The cartels will happily undercut the price and the black market will continue to work and the WOD goes on.
Exactly. The whole thing is corrupt from top to bottom.
Why do you think Prohibition was lifted? Revenue. And what kind of tyrannical nightmare would we be living in now if Prohibition was still in place? |
At last. An honest answer.
Never mind the high taxes and the money the gubmints makes off of the suffering of others. Never mind the billions of dollars alcoholism costs our society. Lets forget the millions of early deaths booze has caused. Not to mention the tens of thousands of annual drunk driving fatalities. And let us ignore all the freedoms and rights LOST as a result of the right to drink.
No, I am not calling for a return to Prohibition. But I am pointing out the terrible price we have paid for repealing the 18th.
HA! Just think of all the Liberals who will be too stoned to remember to vote...
Which ones are they?
Agree.
I have long used libertarians own arguments for legalization against them as they essentially call for bigger government and higher taxes. Which leads to more spending.
All over a morally wrong product with disastrous social consequences.
Libertarians. (hoccc~ptui)
See tagline.
I’m speaking of the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Along with many other Constitutional rights legal alcohol has taken away from millions of Americans as drunks kill and injure themselves and others.
12 years ago I was in a head on collision due to a drunk driver passing out at the wheel and hittingn me. I was hurt pretty badly and I certainly lost rights and freedoms that night. You may argue that drunk driving laws were broken and THAT’s why I lost out. I - on the other hand - may argue that if Prohibition was still the law - then that crash might not have ever occured in the first place.
Again. Not arguing for the return of Prohibition; but am arguing that while Liquor might be a trillion dollar benefit to our economy - there are indeed billion dollar downsides.
For someone who’s not arguing for a return to Prohibition, you’re doing a very good impression of someone who is, and making yourself appear rather disingenuous in the process.
lolol Oooh. You caught me. I’ve doing a reverse-psychology mind (bleep) on you here.

If you really think I’m arguing for Prohibition - then I think you really don’t believe there is any downside to alcohol at all.
I've seen that before. It's called "polarization".
