Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday she did not believe that Democrats major losses in the 2010 elections were because of Democratic votes for Obamacare, blaming them instead on TARP.
In 2010, Republicans picked up 63 House seats, gaining the majority and taking control of the House. The losses are usually blamed on the vote for the unpopular Affordable Care Act, which was signed into law earlier that year. Pelosi argued at a press conference Wednesday that she did not believe that to be the case.
I dont even buy into the idea that we lost the election because of healthcare, she said. One of the most damaging votes that our members had to take was the TARP, 700 plus billion dollars to bail out Wall Street in the view of the public. We didnt see it that way. We saw it as rescuing our economy from a financial services meltdown.
People never even got over that vote, she argued of TARP. It really in some ways gave birth to the tea party. Because they did not like what they viewed as the Wall Street bailout. And certainly the Occupy [Movement], who have a good more in common than they may know. But that was really the vote that sort of soured people. They didnt like that vote at all. And they judged many other things in light of it.
I think that was probably the toughest vote members had to take, she said.

Right, Nancy.
Take your meds.
Tell Eyeballs to look in her ugly mirror and she will see the cause.
That anyone asks a bat-shit crazy loon anything is beyond me.
She may actually be correct on this one—although still too stupid to know the answer is the Rat party in general.
The barking loon has her say.
Blaming others for ones own actions or inactions is a direct indicator of someone who refuses to take responsibility for their own actions or lack of actions.
Two year old children often behave that way: Barry, Holder, Reid, Pelosi, Mrs. Bill Clinton, McCain - - - did I leave anybody out?
That's because you're insane, Nancy.
Things must be REALLY bad when they're having to deny things like that.
Actually, Nancy Pelosi herself had more to do with their loss than TARP did
She’s right. At the time of the 2010 election people hadn’t yet organized around opposition to Obamacare, but many were hopping mad about TARP, and the people who were replaced were people who voted for TARP.
Tea Party gains in 2012 in the House were because of Obamacare.
Wait until next year and see what she says.
Which is more clueless? Nancy Pelosi or Baracko Bamma.
Oct 23, 2013: Pelosi on ObamaCare woes: 'Just fix it'
We can list off a lot of casualties in 2010 directly related to Obamacare. Start with Nebraska Senator Nelson who declined to run after his vote. Same with Indiana’s Bayh. In 2010, we booted a local rep Kosmas because she was a final swing vote for Pelosi to pass the Senate bill in the House. She got railroaded out of office. The same was true of a bunch of other ‘moderate’ Democrats all over the country. They were all direct casualties of 2010’s health care debacle. 2012 saw more gains, but not nearly as many as 2010.
Bohner, McConnell, Grahamnesty....hoping Nutsy Pelosi is wrong
LOL! I knew someone would post that.
Okay, after reading the body, it’s not as completely off-base into denial-land as I expected. Still in a lot of denial, but TARP was a biggie too.
And Pelosi is right on one thing: the TEA Party and Occupy were both born out of the same general idea, but with radically different views on what the underlying problem is and how to fix it
