Playboy: Sen.[Bernie] Sanders: Global warming ‘far more serious problem than Al Qaeda’
The Hill ^ | October 18, 2013 | Ben Geman

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) says global warming poses "a far more serious problem than al Qaeda" and accuses energy companies of being willing to "destroy the planet" for profits.

In an interview with Playboy magazine, Sanders targets coal and oil companies who he says have outsized influence over lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

“Big business is willing to destroy the planet for short-term profits,” Sanders said.

“And because of their power over the political process, you hear a deafening silence in the U.S. Congress and in other bodies around the world about the severity of the problem. Global warming is a far more serious problem than Al Qaeda,” he said.

The comment arrives in a broader economic critique of what Sanders, the Senate's most left-leaning member, calls a “hypercapitalist” society plagued by huge inequalities in wealth and political power.

Sanders alleges the Republican Party has become “extremist” but also criticizes Democrats. A tidbit from the interview:

Let me tell you a story outside of school. I go to the Democratic caucuses every week, and every week there is a report about fund-raising—Republicans have raised thus and thus; this is what we have done. In the six years I’ve been going to those meetings, I have never heard five minutes of discussion about organizing. It’s about raising money. Not five minutes to say, “Look, West Virginia, we have rallies, we’re doing this, we’re doing that, we’re knocking on doors.” In six years, I have heard no discussion about that at all.

Actually... what conservatives could do (if they’d all agree to do it en masse) is to heavily populate Vermont AND New Hampshire. Make that region the bastion freedom-mindedness it once was...

Ah never mind... just nuke Vermont.

Oh, NO!

You mean that man-made Global Warming has gotten so bad that now it is cooling the sun? Say it isn't so!

Heavily populated anything turns socialist. Heavily unpopulated anything turns American. If you pack freedom loving, barbequing, gun shooting, loud music loving conservatives into a small space, they'd eventually turn to big government to get their neighbors to be quiet and follow a long list of rules. Government was invented so people could get along. The more people per square mile, the more big intrusive government people want.

calls a “hypercapitalist” society plagued by huge inequalities in wealth and political power.

It is the libtard agenda and libtard policies that are causing the inequalities of wealth.Excessive government spending leads to hyperlarge deficit spending which requires the combination of increased money supply, increased taxes, and increase government borrowing to finance the deficit. This combination is an assault on saving and capital accumulation, which leads to lower productive expenditure, which leads to less demand for labor which leads to increased unemployment and lower average money wage rates.

At the same time, when the money supply is increased, it leads to more aggregate profits for capitalists, business owners, and the rich. The combination of lower average money wage rates for workers and higher aggregate profit income for the rich leads to more inequality. The solution is to cut government spending, government budget deficits, taxes, and borrowing, and control the increase in the money supply. And this requires rejection of socialism and statism.

But a Marxist MUST see all problems as being the result of the huge companies (with all the means of production) oppressing the poor worker class, who merely slave away for the big companies instead of slaving away for the government.

Yeah, when I think of how many markets and schools Global Warming has bombed and how many decapitations and assassinations it has performed, al Qaeda looks like a bunch of choirboys. Thanks for the input, Bernie.

I used to hear Bernie on talk radio in Vermont now and then...you could almost hear the tears as he praised some socialist program of one kind or another...communist, no question.

Sanders trivia: he was elected Mayor of Burlington by TEN VOTES at the beginning of his political career...if only eleven pubbies had gone to the polls that day; his political career might have been aborted or taken a different turn. Oh, well...

They can’t even keep their own refrigerators clean - must be due to the time consuming, heavy work load they have imposing rules and laws and squeezing the economy to a standstill.

Would that it were true for it would mean that Al Qaeda was a far less than negligible problem.
But what's the use of being a big government socialist if you can't lie, cheat, and steal, eh, Bernie?
