The question to be asked is: “If it is in the Nation’s best interest to shut down the Government, then why are there only TWO Federal Politicians, Obama and Reid, loudly advocating shutting down the US Federal Government?

Obama has MANY reasons to shutdown the Federal Government such as:

1.) A headline grabbing story that will distract attention from the Impeachable scandals of:

Benghazi Massacre Dereliction of Duty by Obama as CIC;
Obamacare Insurance managed by the corrupt IRS;
IRS harassment of political opponents of Obama;
Use of the NSA by Obama to spy on everybody in the USA;
etc, etc.

2.) The use of fear of a shutdown might help to protect defunding and eventual abolishment of Obama’s narrowly focucused ideological agenda of an European-style, failure-prone, Marxist, monopoly of the US Medical Insurance Industry.

3.) Spreading fear and blame might also preserve Obama’s power to increase Obamacare Insurance premiums on an annual basis.

*This would be highly advantageous to Obama as the increase in mandatory insurance premiums would not be a tax, as the “unexpected market conditions” would be given as the reason for the increase.

*Also there would be no need to ask for the “Advice and Consent” of Congress, as the IRS would be in complete control of all income and medical records.

4.) The last reason is the most important for Obama, personally: America would at last no longer be a Nation where the Liberty to choose ones own family destiny could ever exist again.

As for Reid, the best guess I have is that he wants a Government Monopoly of the Medical Insurance Industry. Well, to be fair, Reid calls for a “single payer” system.

My guess is that multi-millionaire Reid, nearing Federal retirement, owns a lot of stock in some companies that are tied to a “single payer” system.

Maybe the NSA, or the IRS can find out for us?

I’m going to as my US Senator from TEXAS, The Esteemed Senator John “To Hell with my voters” Cornyn to check on this for me - - - .

Cowardice and mendacity are the main reason Republicans fail to “message”.

Look at this fight: what didn’t the House do?

They didn’t reject the Senate bill!
Our cowardly lying Leadership wouldn’t make their RINOs vote against it. It’s sitting on the table just waiting to be passed. Unlike the bill we sent to the Senate which was rejected.
The media know this and it’s a main reason they feel safe assuming the Republicans will cave- which will ‘prove’ they were ‘wrong’.

If the bill had been rejected the media would be floundering.

I’d rather them end up against a wall before they put us up against the same wall.

Instead of delaying it for a year, grant permanent exemptions for every American citizen.

“Does the House legislation fund the government?”

Yes it does but so does the Senate legilation that is unacceptable to the house.

Therefore I claim both sides are willing to shut the govt. over Obamacare.

The Republicans are adamant about their opposition to Obamacare. All they did was unfund obamacare. They made provision for all the rest of funding. That tells me they are not willing to shut down the government, just Obamacare. We have to take a stand. This bill is an abomination. It will destroy this nation if not defunded.

I'd love to read a few articles entitled: "Obama Threatens to Shut Down Government", "Democrats Threaten to Shut Down Government", "Harry Reid Threatens to Shut Down Government".

You will never read that. The American Pravda Press is fully-in for Marxism and Fascism.

Exempt, but covered. That’s all that the rest of us non-Holder’s people, non-undocumented immigrant, non-union, non-goobermint worker Americans are asking for: we want “affordable” (free) health care too!

That’s right.
Sorry about that. I’ve been not up to par for the past few days.

Actually, with a gov’t shutdown...I think the President has a major problem in making these “appearances” that he does...each week. If he runs around the US and does the ‘blame Republicans’ speech...they see some rich guy on a plane and spending millions when they don’t exist. It only takes a week of these kinds of trips...for the public to reset the clock and laugh over the blame efforts.

I think the Republicans are counting on him to travel and toss blames. The news media isn’t readily accepted anymore in the heartland, so their words will fall on deaf ears. Look at the NY Times, Washington Post, and various newspapers....folks just don’t buy into their arguments anymore.

Sequestration really brought in a breathe of fresh air. People realized the value of shut-downs. It doesn’t hurt.

Around 15 Oct (my humble bet)...the President will call Harry Reid over to the White House, and admit this scheme backfired, and he wants Harry now to work some basic agreement and get funding back into the government. Harry will stand here....for the 99th time, and just shake his head. He’s done all the various scripts for the White House, and they all get worse and worse as time goes by. Harry’s gatekeeper at the office will remind him of the democratic theme, and around the 16th of Oct...we will be funded again. And yes, a delay of Obama-Care will have occurred (it might be six months rather than twelve months).

If the House funds the government, then you can’t argue they are trying to shut it down.

Approve their bill and the government is funded.

Therefore, the Senate was presented with a funding bill and rejected it. THEY are the ones taking action to reject a bill that funds the government.

I think that would be better language. It would fit with “exemptions” being given to everyone else.

Obama and Reid figure Republicans will get all the blame and get lots of angry phone calls, be torn apart by the Media and will eventually surrender.

They definitely see themselves having the upper hand.

Will see if GOP has a plan to win this or not.

As always, the GOP would have to buy an advertisement to explain their position, but they won’t do that. Instead, they tolerate the totally slanted coverage that the media gives them. Not fighting suggests to me that they don’t care if their message gets out or not.

I’m convinced that targeted buys would change the discussion and then their position would have to be covered. So, it would only take one such buy on each major event they wish reported correctly, and then the media would be forced to include that perspective, because people will see what the GOP was actually saying.

Is it fair that the GOP has to spend to get its perspective out? Not really, but it is very practical, and probably even cost efficient when elections roll around. They won’t need to spend so much time and resources then fighting misperceptions and erroneous information that has been spewed about them for years.

RE :”As always, the GOP would have to buy an advertisement to explain their position, but they won’t do that. Instead, they tolerate the totally slanted coverage that the media gives them. Not fighting suggests to me that they don’t care if their message gets out or not.”

I like that you come up with ideas, and that is true.

Obama knows that GOP is divided and Dems are united, some in GOP is sure they will lose, others are sure they will win.

Obama knows that GOP will most likely be blamed raising pressure on them to cave. Recall Newt and Dole gave Clinton the CR he demanded in 1996 after weeks of getting beat up.

Obama and Reid have dug in their heels for now :”You know what we give you for your CR? We give you nothing. And you can pay for our heath care too.” Reminds me of Godfather

This writer seems to think the MSM will side with GOP and demand that Obama compromise:

Making matters more advantageous for Cruz, Lee, John Boehner, etc. is the long-arching media narrative that compromise is the holiest of all political rites. This standoff puts the eager-to-compromise GOP against the Democrat position of “No way. No how. Not even going to talk about it.” That political ground becomes increasingly difficult to hold as time passes.
