How many doctors just flat give up accepting medicare/medicaid/michild(CHiP in Texas, btw)?

My kid's pediatrician once told me that in the early 1980s he belonged to a group of physicians who treated poor people with reduced rates. Each doctor would take a number of poor clients. They considered it charity and it worked well for all involved.

But now the government is forcing doctors to do what was once spontaneous charitable work.

And, the Federal government charges us all more money to provide a service and they takes their cut of the money first.

It just don't seem right.
