Will someone please take that political shovel from Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott so he can stop digging? Hes getting deeper and deeper into a hole by offending people he doesnt have to in order to secure his position with the right-wing Republican base, a group he needs to win any primary election. But what Im afraid he doesnt realize is that his latest statements and actions may be energizing people in the state beyond that base, especially Democrats who have been waiting a long time for something to rejoice about in statewide elections. When was the last time you heard Texans singing Happy Days Are Here Again? Well, some are ready to strike up the band and start belting that tune, particularly if state Sen. Wendy Davis, D-Fort Worth, announces she will run for governor against the attorney general. It was bad enough that Abbott, after the Supreme Court struck down a section of the Voting Rights Act, quickly announced that the Texas voter ID law was back in effect, and then attacked the president and the U.S. attorney general when they vowed to seek a remedy through the courts. Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Fort Worth, sued the state to block implementation of the voter ID law, and on Tuesday Dallas County Commissioners voted to join that suit to protect citizens in that county where more than 200,000 voters dont have the identification required by the state law. Abbott made another decision recently that surprised practically everyone in Texas when he joined with the federal government and five other states in opposing the merger of US Airways and Fort Worth-based American Airlines.

Not much polling activity, but worth a look from time to time:

“It was bad enough that Abbott, after the Supreme Court struck down a section of the Voting Rights Act, quickly announced that the Texas voter ID law was back in effect,”
Oh, I’m sure the legitimate citizens outside of Austin and San Sovietonio are just outraged that he would dare enforce voter integrity. How dare he!
B.S. You just put another “article” on here berating Greg Abbott to which I just responded, and I'm alerting Jim because you are always over the top in your attacks on Abbott for your buddy, Pauken, who was the worst State Chairman we had - the party was in debt due to him and the Republican Governor, George Bush, wouldn't take Pauken’s phone calls. I know that is true because Pauken said that to my husband and me.
In your other post, you said Chris Christi came to a ball game in Texas and Abbott was nice to him so now Abbott has adopted northern, liberal values for Texas (I am paraphrasing what you said). You are a liar and you do this every time you post about Abbott.
You did it before when Karl Rove was in Texas at a meeting where Abbott was and you said they were buddies as though Rove is running Abbott. What crap - they were at a law enforcement meeting. That is another lie.
You are in China and so far off the mark, you are ridiculous. Every time you make another accusation that is a lie about Abbott, I will be here right on your butt.
Seems to me Abbott is kicking Pauken into that hole.
He has his rights to have an opinion.
Gentlemen! Gentlemen!
No fighting in the War Room!
“It was bad enough that Abbott, after the Supreme Court struck down a section of the Voting Rights Act, quickly announced that the Texas voter ID law was back in effect, and then attacked the president and the U.S. attorney general”
Oh MY GOD! Somebody stop him! He’s crazy!!
“He has his rights to have an opinion.”
Lying is not an opinion - it is a lie.
Thank you Marcella. Gregg Abbott is a good man.
That is the way politics is often played.
I dislike liars as much as the next person, I particularly dislike ones that are methodical.
No thanks!

Fake account, chinese slave labor posting, or something like that.
Abbott will trounce Wendy Davis.
She only has one claim to fame.
How is that a general election matter for Gov?
So Abbott is kind to her and welcomes her in debates.
This buts Pauken in the shadows and puts Abbott up against the weaker candidate.
How is this a bad plan?
You said regarding lying: “That is the way politics is often played.”
I spent 16 years in the trenches for our state party and our county and I taught election judges/clerks and taught Texas Election Law to county chairmen and others, including lawyers, across our state. I never lied once in all those years. I used truth, the election law, to bring about change. Truth will win out, lies will not.
Didn’t Abbot claim that he made no deal with Perry to run for governor. Yet, video footage of Perry contradicted that statement. Why would you vote for a liar such as Abbott?
You know other do not always tell the truth.
