A History Rewrite in Tulsa
Shout Bits Blog ^ | 8/20/13 | Shout Bits

History is the practice of crafting stories around events so that they seem purposeful. Historians are professionals who defend their stories against other stories they do not like. Case in point is the destruction of Thomas Jefferson's character. Sure, Jefferson did a few things – Declaration of Independence, founded UVA, the Louisiana Purchase – but he was a slave owner and thought little of black people's potential. A responsible historian would tell Jefferson's story by noting that most wealthy Virginians owned slaves, and most people in general thought little of racial equality; Jefferson was a product of his era. Still, leftist historians ignore this obvious explanation of the conflict between Jefferson's lofty ideals and his slaver practices. The founding fathers are an impediment to the dictatorship of the proletariat, so Jefferson must be ruined. Tulsa, OK is the latest battle of leftists crafting stories to suit their purpose.

Like many towns, Tulsa's largely abandoned warehouse and industrial center is being revitalized. Warehouses are being repurposed as restaurants, museums, galleries, and living spaces. A neighborhood devoid of decent society is now a hip entertainment and historic district. Good for Tulsa, but unfortunately this neighborhood is named after a man who, shock, was imperfect.

W. Tate Brady, a Tulsa founder, enjoyed a mixed race marriage (Cherokee), advocated for Indian rights, and built businesses that employed black youths. He could have cured cancer and still not kept his reputation in tact because for about six years Brady was among thousands of Tulsa KKK members. Never mind that when he quit he endorsed a Democrat anti-Klan candidate for Governor, the KKK stain is unforgivable to historians who ignore historical mores.

Brady St., Tulsa Last week, the Tulsa City Council renamed Brady St. to Brady St. In a laughable cop-out, Brady St. is no longer named after a Tulsa founder, but after another Brady who never had anything to do with Tulsa or Oklahoma. Politicians love to give everyone a little sugar, but this decision should be an insult to everyone.

The Brady district is also home to the Guthrie Greens, named after Okie Woody Guthrie. Guthrie sang songs about working people, but never employed or helped them as did Brady. Guthrie was a wanderer, a philanderer, and a lifelong communist. Unlike Brady, in the face of communism's unprecedented wave of murder and suffering, Guthrie never reformed. The Klans were obviously evil, and their beliefs were contrary to US ideals of individual rights. Nobody should sing the Klans' praise, but their body count is around 2,000 vs. communism's 100+ million. In the scope of atrocities, nothing compares to Guthrie's communism. If anyone's singular flaws should eliminate him from local naming rights, it should be Guthrie. As it happens, a Samuel Guthrie invented chloroform and percussion caps in the 19th Century, so Tulsa's City Council can sort-of rename Guthrie Greens the way they did Brady St.. Of course, Woody Guthrie is safe; his communist views of class division and injustice, while responsible for unspeakable horrors, are quite politic.

Guthrie Greens, Tulsa A vocal minority of malcontents tear down the reputations of prominent men and institutions so they may build their own history, or story. These leftists see the US and the men who built it as fundamentally evil. Their US history is a story of oppression and injustice. Of course, no nation has ever done so much good for every person on earth. The US's short history is really a story of lifting billions of people from suffering and creating previously unimaginable standards of living. When leftists seek to tear down even obscure figures such as Tate Brady, with the assistance of dupes like the Tulsa City Council, they are really engaged in a long march toward their goal of rebuilding society to their liking.

“(Jefferson) thought little of black people’s potential.”

And again history proved him right.

Brady would have had to become a goose-stepping National Democratic Socialist Party member like Senator Robert "KKK Kleagle" Byrd, who did his level best throughout his long Senate career to keep the black man enslaved on the Big City Progressive Plantations.

Or perhaps someone like Teddy "My Personal War On Women" Kennedy, who liked sexually abusing, enslaving and killing women.

Jefferson was a product of his era.

Jefferson was a towering figure for the ages--an American equivalent of a Renaissance Man! The efforts to tear down Jefferson, and other genuine American heroes is part of a Leftist war on our cultural heritage.

See Creating Hate In America Today.

Moreover, for anyone to criticize Jefferson on the subject of race--and the article is not entirely accurate on his views, consider the fact that Jefferson did not ask anyone to accept any view, his or any other, uncritically. Rather he called for us to take advantage of having three major races in close proximity, by studying each as an object of Natural History. Isn't that call long overdue? Should anyone be afraid of more knowledge; afraid of better understanding?

Mankind is the only object of great human interest, animate or inanimate, where we do not encourage maximum understanding of the variations. (See Footnote On "Diversity".)

Now, I realize that the author is not attacking Jefferson; rather his detractors, as those of the more immediate subject from Tulsa. But I believe that my point, here, needed to be made. It is important that our counter-attack on the Left be as accurate as possible.

Yes, all this is true. He was also a deist, a freethinker, a denier of the supernatural, and published his own version of the bible with all the miracles taken out (because he didn't believe in them). And on top of that, he supported the French Revolution and may have been in contact with subversive Jacobin forces.

Henotheistic ancestor worship will not save us from evil. This is the road taken by the European right wing (the idolatry of "blood and soil") and we all know where that ended.

The only answer to our peril is the One True G-d. Not the "American 'gxd'" (which never existed), but the REAL G-d.

I understand the reaction to internationalism, but we must not opt instead for a "planet of peoples" where each nation has its own "truth" created in its own image. We need G-d. He doesn't need us. We need Him!

And no, I am not a "neocon." I am a Theocrat and a religious fundamentalist. This V-dare ideology is every bit as bad as Communism because each denies HaShem, one in the name of universal materialism, the other in the name of idolatry of local "gxds."

Ohhh, that's mean. But until the majority of them leave the lefty/W.E.B. DuBois plantation, largely true.

One remarkable thing about lefties is that no matter how many time their pet Marxist/Communist theories are implemented, fail and result in ever increasing body counts, it doesn't matter.

Because Stalin or Mao or Castro or Pol Pot or whomever didn't do it right.

OTOH, Reaganomics or capitalism in any form is an abject failure because it isn't perfect.

I do not have the time, right now, to refute your premises with respect to Jefferson. He was not the deist, you suggest; which will be seen from his continuous discussions of Creation & the specific Creator. His "Bible" was simply a compilation of the actual words of Jesus, and not intended as an attack on the rest of the Bible. (Yes he was skeptical as to some passages.) As for his initial sympathy with the French Revolution, which was no different than his friend LaFayette's, he recoiled in horror when the Jacobins revealed their egalitarian fanaticism and began lopping off heads.

I will deal with your misrepresentation of the European Right, when I have more time. (The traditional Church in Europe--if you actually understand the term "right wing," which arises from the seating in the French National Assembly in 1789--was a significant part of the right wing.)

Later!

Sorry, but you’ve bought into a series of lies told about Jefferson. Suggest you read “The Jefferson Lies” by David Barton. What is currently popular is simply not true.
