Rush, Sean and Levin: That’s Debatable

What’s the hottest topic in Chicagoland? Nope, it’s not Chicago’s horrific rate of (illegal) gun violence,

not the “flash gangs” on “Muggers Mile,”

or even it’s robust effort to become the “Next Detroit.”

It’s the 2016 Republican Presidential primary “debates.”

Ok, so not everybody in Chi-town is consumed with fear that Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and “The Great One” Mark Levin (RSL) might be chosen to head the R-word debates.

RSL

Butt I can tell you that everyone occupying our Organizing For Action (OFA) Headquarters sure are.

MSM talking heads are helpfully passing the OFA’s official talking points on to Republicans in order to  “warn” them that using this trio of “extreme right wingers” might “hurt them” in the general election. The thinking being that letting these guys define the questions in the debate may force all of the R-candidates into taking unpopular, conservative positions that are too far to the “right.”

You know, positions like:

How in the world are Republicans going to win their base and the indispensible independents if they take positions like those???

I have a suggestion if Rush thinks he would be a distraction. I suggest the three hosts (Limbaugh, Hannity and Levin) form a committee where they will organize several debates. They will choose the format and can either ask questions themselves or get a proxy. Imagine the possibilities of a debate done for conservatives by conservatives. Ratings would be high if they didn’t have some lame obama fanboy moderator AND if they could somehow figure out how to make the debates meaningful with a crowded field.

A humble suggestion, a max of four candidates per. If there are twelve candidates, have 3 sets of debates. But I seem to recall many times 10 guys standing around waiting for their 2 minutes of airtime. Ugh, what a terrible way to pick a president. “Uh yah, that Perry.....his five segments of 2 minutes each were really good this time around. I think he won the debate.” IMHO soundbites are bad....it’s terribly shallow.
