Red Sox rule!!! Yankees are toast, dead, kaput..A-Rod still sucks...and all other baseball stuff..
one man's opinion...

OK..it's sort of a slow news day. All anyone wants to talk about is Megyn Kelly getting the 9pm slot at FOX News. So, rejoicing as I am in the completely unexpected success of my beloved Red Sox this season, and hopeful of pissing off as many Yankees fans as possible, I thought I'd start a baseball thread.

For us...I think the key is if Buckholz comes back, and comes back in reasonable shape..he was awesome before getting hurt.

Ortiz is unreal...I wish he'd lost the 30 pounds a few years ago..

The AL wildcard race should be very exciting...THREE teams from the AL East could make the playoffs..

The thing I remember about Ted Williams is how nasty he was to the Boston fans.

You were lucky.

Girardi has no control over his players.
He has the same amount of control as any other manager has over their players. His problem is he has no players.

barking is nothing. In one game Jeter, running between second and third, shouted “mine” as he ran behind the short stop, the short stop stopped backing up for the pop up, the left fielder heard “mine” and stopped thinking the short stop had called it. The ball bounced on the ground about 10 feet behind the short stop and about 10 feet in front of the left fielder. Caught on film, it was hilarious.

I guess I shouldn't mention that my team has a 13 game winning streak.

They are the 4th hottest :-)

It will potentially be very interesting if the Rangers play Boston at Fenway now that they have Manny on their team.

Good thought...however, the optics of replacing Cruz with Manny are gonna hurt...LOL

LOL, I remember that now! Can't remember if I saw that game live, or saw highlights. Thanks for the reminder...

Those damn Yankees!

this man comes out..he was carrying several bats...he came over to me, knelt down, pulled out a bat, and spent about 5 minutes talking to me...and giving me “batting tips”..though I could barely hold the bat. The Yankees were playing the Red Sox that day, and the man was Ted Williams..and I became a lifelong fan..

Wow... incredible story!

Well, unfortunately the Red Sox woes I mentioned in #37 above continued during last night's Red Sox-Royals game...

As usual, Jon Lester had "difficulty" during the 1st inning. Kansas City quickly got a run on the scoreboard. Then Lester loaded the bases. In come two more runs... KC leads the Sox 3-0.

It took Lester 41 pitches to finally get out of the first inning.

Hardly the "ace" we need heading late into the season...

Super slumper Mike Napoli hit into a double play to end the game. Red Sox lose to the Royals 5-1.

Oh well... maybe tonight we'll have better luck with Peavy on the mound.

Good for the Red Sox.

Beats bottom of the barrel last year! ;)

Santana's pitching for us and he's on a streak lately. Should be a good series.

Peavy is now, IMHO, the ace of the staff..and signed for next season...

I'm watching the MLB highlite show this morning..and they're talking about how great Carl Crawford is playing..and I want to go bang my head against the wall..

The Red Sox should be renamed the Red Soxed Step Child. Compare the banners with the Yanks since they traded Ruth and you’ll see what I mean. :-}

Though in all honesty I do think Ted Williams was the second greatest hitter to ever play the game. Of course a Yankee was the first. And Pujols is nipping at Ted’s heels.

My pleasure....had Williams played in the old, original Yankee Stadium, with the field level 296 ft right field porch..he’d have hit 750 HRs..and if he hadn’t missed 4 years for WW II and Korea..he might have hit 1,000 HR..just take his stats and pro-rate them

Ugh, I know... Where was Carl Crawford when we needed him? Seems he spent his entire Red Sox career on the DL.

Peavy isn't very sharp tonight... :-(
