Red Sox rule!!! Yankees are toast, dead, kaput..A-Rod still sucks...and all other baseball stuff..
one man's opinion...

OK..it's sort of a slow news day. All anyone wants to talk about is Megyn Kelly getting the 9pm slot at FOX News. So, rejoicing as I am in the completely unexpected success of my beloved Red Sox this season, and hopeful of pissing off as many Yankees fans as possible, I thought I'd start a baseball thread.

Tribe not only can’t beat Detroit, the guy who was tied for the team lead in homers gets dumped. Makes no sense at all.

He’s an over-paid, arrogant drug-using has been who’s poison in the clubhouse. He is a negative on almost all fronts.

Let me try and explain it for you...Having lived most of my live in the NYC suburbs, I have been blessed, and cursed, with a great many friends and acquaintances who are Yankees fans. And for nearly 50 years I suffered abuse...psychological as well as having beer thrown on me at Yankee Stadium just because I was wearing a Red Sox cap.

But Yankees fans all suffer from one collective illness. Mass amnesia. You see, for Yankees fans, 2004 never happened. Their baseball calendar goes from 2003-2004. They never talk about 2004.

The Yankees loss in the 2004 post season is the single greatest collapse, the greatest CHOKE ever in the long history of baseball, yet they never mention it. They've block it out. The Yankees were ahead 3-0 in the series, and ahead late in game 4..AND THEY BLEW IT. CHOKED!!!

I've been in Tampa since 2007, and go to about 15 games a year..all the Red Sox games, plus a few others. Rays are a very exciting team...awesome young pitching staff..and very dangerous. When the Red Sox are here, it's like Fenway south...more than half the crowd is wearing Red Sox stuff.

FYI..lots of Boston fans come down for a 3 game series. For the price of scalping two tickets at Fenway, let alone parking.. you can get airfare round rip, a decent hotel, game tickets, and enough left over for a few decent meals..

FYI..I grew up in the Bronx..a few miles from Yankee Stadium. In 1953..when I was 6..my aunt took me to my first ball game...she was a lifelong Yankees fan..going back to Murderer’s Row. After the game, she had me stand outside the player’s entrance..to try and get some autographs..None of the Yankees would stop tht day for this little kid. So, after an hour..we give up.. we’re walking up the hill to the subway..we go past the visitor’s entrance...the door opens, this man comes out..he was carrying several bats...he came over to me, knelt down, pulled out a bat, and spent about 5 minutes talking to me...and giving me “batting tips”..though I could barely hold the bat. The Yankees were playing the Red Sox that day, and the man was Ted Williams..and I became a lifelong fan..

I’m kind of a Mets fan too. After living in Boston my husband and I lived in Manhattan and we both hated the Yankess soooo we’d go to Mets games:)

That was 78-80 so no danger of a World Series between them!

My son, born and raised in the Boston area, has been working in NYC for 20 years.

During the ALCS in 2004 I asked him how he kept his joy in check.

He told everyone he was a big Mets fan-—as you did.

See? It works!

There is no ball park better (or stranger) than Fenway.

One of the things on my bucket list is to get back up for a few games in Fenway..it’s been over a decade...I want to sit atop the Green Monster, and also in the rooftop seats..

inferiority complex is inferior? Check back when they reach 12 championships, until then.. go back to the swirling toilet sorry ass excuse for a crappy playground called Fenway and sing songs about the touching underage Kennedys..

Three hottest teams in baseball right now, with my Royals being one of them, and the other two (Cleveland and Detroit) are in the same division...

I guess I shouldn't mention that my team has a 13 game winning streak.

My father-in-law used to run a summer Y-camp for disadvantaged kids outside of Worcester. Ted Williams and another Red Sox player (Johnny Pesky? I forget.) dropped in unanounced one day, and basically the same story. Spent the whole afternoon with the kids, no reporters, no publicity, just spending time with young fans.

BTW, I grew up in Queens, when everyone was a Dodgers fan, even after the move to LA. I was a Yankees fan because I was a front runner. I always hated the Mets and Met fans, except maybe 1969 and 1973. The Red Sox “grew” on me after I moved up here.

I was commissioned after college, in 1968, and spent 4 years overseas..and thus I missed what, for NY sports fans was the greatest year ever..1969....the Mets, Jets, and Knicks..
