I don’t post a lot that could be considered conspiracy stuff. In fact I took more than a little heat for posting articles about the government buying of ammo and was assured by any number of FReepers that it was all business as usual and there was nothing to it. Though now we know different. So take it for what you will, but I believe someone knows that the excrement is soon to hit the osculating air moving appliance.

Even if the FEMA ammunition buying were true, why would they be buying up .22 cartridges?

I read Brazil crops failing right now because of unusual cold. Extreme snow fall in Antartica. The current Arctic summer was half as long as normal.....
Maybe they think that QE tapering will be a disaster, since QE has basically kept the economy going in place of real earnings and accumulation of value.
If I were running FEMA, this is a task that I would have assigned several years ago. It behooves the fedzilla to know what can be mustered in short order. That this also may be their way of stocking the several bunkers they’ve had built around the nation, to secure and support the elite in the case of a national disaster (like Yellow Stone erupting), well, it is anyone’s guess at this stage, what with a regime that lies even when the truth is simpler and more useful.
