This suggests to me that Congressmen should have to do without staff. That way they would have to read and write legislation, do their own damn research, and actually think about the votes they take on bills.

Do you really think he was "sucked in?" Rubio was never really a conservative, but rather, a manipulator who understood how to appeal to the Tea Party and conservatives in order to defeat Crist and get elected to the Senate. From his perspective, his only mistake was a miscalculation on how much the amnesty issue would hurt him. In that sense, we are fortunate because we have seen his true colors. Rubio is not a conservative nor is he some naive victim of McCain and Graham. Rubio thought this was the ticket to the WH--a Rep Hispanic who could garner Hispanic votes along with those of conservatives. Ten thumbs way, way up.
