TPNN - TEA PARTY NEWS NETWORK ^ | June 18, 2013 | Matthew Burke

Posted on 06/18/2013 7:43:50 AM PDT by SaveOurRepublicFromTyranny

CBS News reporter, Sharyl Attkisson, one of the very few real reporters left in the mainstream media, appeared on Monday’s O’Reilly Factor, telling Bill O’Reilly that she thinks she knew who hacked her computer (scroll down for video). In the interview, Attkisson begins by explaining that both her personal computer, as well as her CBS work computer would mysteriously turn on in the middle of the night, even though she’d shut them down...

And of course, being an MSM type, she didn’t quite know how to remove power (both AC source and the battery) so that it wouldn’t turn on at all.

Silly liberal, science is for grownups.

They tried to warn her nicely, now she has forced them to go the Foster Brown route.

the WaPo news media blog’s lead is that Sharyl Attkisson is on a “media tour”. NOT that the government is destroying it’s own citizen’s privacy.

Yet she won’t say who. Sounds more like hype for an upcoming story than any real revelation on her part.

As pointed out above, she isn’t a lib.

But one would think as journalist no doubt dealing with confidental information she should at least turn off her wireless and unplug her internet connection. Or, is there technology that could step around that?

Only if you have wake on lan enabled in the bios. What probably happened was her PC was compromised when it was running and they used a tool to enable it from Windows.

Sounds like paranoia to me. She probably has software that just updates itself on different cycles and her computer was set up to wake using LAN...heck antivirus software can make a computer look like someone is accessing it if it runs a scan. Now if she had it set up for remote access that’s a whole ‘nother ball game...

Hmmmm.. Could be lots of culprits here, but whoever it is they were doing it on orders from 0bama to shut down her advances on the Benghazi story. The intrusion came from a DOJ or NSA hacker, possibly the same person accessing James Rosen’s computer and E-mails. Perhaps there’s a warrant to access Sharyl’s computer, just like the conjured-up one for James Rosen’s?

She is one of the few true quality journalists in the MSM.

Not ALL the MSM is in the tank for Obama, just 99.6% of them.

That sounds like a weird antivirus. I have Norton and it never does that.

And .. if you do set up for remote access, where would you find that within IE ..?? I noticed the word “Everybody” in a menu once, but now I can’t find it again - so I can explore what it means.

Depending on the manufacturer 1) First I went into the BIOS and power management setting and made sure remote WOL was turned on and low power setting turned off. Setting on monitor to S1 rahter than S5 2) Made sure after the computer was powered up than the NIC setting were set not to aloow the computer to turn off power to the NIC in standby mode and in advanced setting that WOL from LAN was enabled. Have to do this onsite unless you have New Intel VPro cards that lets you control at the root level Once this is done you can turn on remotely. ONE CAVEAT to this....you have to have another LMI computer powered up on the same network. If they are all off...it's a no go!!

I found this on the interwebs

Yes, depending on the settings they can. Most computers have a feature called “Wake On LAN” which can be used to power them up remotely through a network connection. I think the setting is usually disabled by default, but if you have been hacked, they can just turn it on themselves.

She should have sought some free technical advice on FR before broaching the topic on national television.

Sounds like paranoia to me.

CBS brought in an independent computer forensics company, and they confirmed that the computer had been compromised on a number of occasions, and used sophisticated methods trying to covering their tracks.

It’s not that hard if you have access to it or get them to download a Trojan in their email that installs silently waiting for a ping from the hacker to activate the program. A standard Windows firewall won’t stop them. I used to use a program called SubSeven way back in the day. You old see everything on their screen, log every keystroke (steal their passwords), look at and/or copy their hard drive contents, even shut it down or open the CD/DVD door if you wanted to...: )

You can get similar type programs to use on your own computers to protect your children but you have to install it on their hard drive manually.

My apologies. I hadnt listened to the video footage when I made my comment. After listening to her she seems credible. The type of news articles she was working on and her research findings would def be of concern to hiis highness.

She had several computer experts confirm someone hacked the
computer and tried to cover the fact they hacked into it. The CBS
hired experts that were able to trace the hacker!!! They KNOW who
it was, attorneys are involved but the story will break soon!!!
Her body language during this interview definitely implied it was
some government agency this is the story that is going to be HUGE!!!
I just hope CBS doesn’t squash this story!!!
