Perhaps he means one of those Gods that preach:
Make sure the children suffer, before they come to me!
Instead of:
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven
He must have been thinking of Moloch, the god of the Canaanites, who gave their children to be sacrificed in the fire.
