Tom Friedman: We must respond to the Boston attacks by…passing a carbon tax
Hot Air (Green Room) ^ | 4-24-2013 | Guy Benson

Posted on 04/24/2013 12:48:24 PM PDT by Sir Napsalot

A few days old, but worth highlighting nonetheless. The New York Times is a cartoon:

Until we fully understand what turned two brothers who allegedly perpetrated the Boston Marathon bombings into murderers, it is hard to make any policy recommendation other than this: We need to redouble our efforts to make America stronger and healthier so it remains a vibrant counterexample to whatever bigoted ideology may have gripped these young men. With all our warts, we have built a unique society — a country where a black man, whose middle name is Hussein, whose grandfather was a Muslim, can run for president and first defeat a woman in his own party and then four years later a Mormon from the opposition, and no one thinks twice about it. With so many societies around the world being torn apart, especially in the Middle East, it is vital that America survives and flourishes as a beacon of pluralism. Rebuilding our strength has to start with healing our economy. In that regard, it feels as if our budget drama has dragged on for so long that it has not only been drained of all emotional energy but nobody even remembers the plot anymore. It’s worth recalling: What are we trying to do? …

So what to do? We need a more “radical center” — one much more willing to suggest radically new ideas to raise revenues, not the “split-the-difference-between-the-same-old-options center.” And the best place to start is with a carbon tax.

(emphasis by GB)

It’s pretty clear that Friedman had a carbon tax column in the pipeline, then felt compelled to shoe-horn in the Boston bombings somehow. The result smacks of grotesque opportunism and bizarre callousness. .......

Even the left despises Friedman. He is seen as a lackey to the crony capitalists that give him money to speak at their events.

Of one wonders what is the product of an education that has no standards, one can use Tom Friedman as an example.

Be afraid.

Be very afraid.

“Carbon tax?” No, no, no.. we should instead pass a nationwide law like the one in Seattle that requires goldfish to lay quietly in their bowls while riding on public transportation. Loud and boisterous goldfish offend muslims and push them into terroristic rage.

So, the biggest problem in Boston wasn't three killed and dozens injured, a murdered policeman and a terrorized city; it was that the perps were driving around in an SUV?

This guy is nuts.

As hilarious as Friedman sounds, his response might be related to the ultimate refusal of our government to directly name our enemies.

We are at war with at least one enemy who has declared war on us and civilization as a whole. And the unwillingness of our government to even pronounce the name of that enemy seems to have a set a precedent for misdiagnosing all our problems in life.

Next, I expect that upon taking my car to the garage for a sputtering engine, my mechanic will tell me that I need a new fishing pole. Or perhaps my doctor will prescribe new shoes to clear up my nagging headache.

Friedman is from the same Minneapolis suburban high school as Al Franken.

I had a GF whose mother played bridge with Friedman’s mother. Even his mother was embarrassed by his drivel!

????? Goldfish? Link?

Not as funny as the Time piece: Repeated blows to the head made Tamerlan Tsarnaev turn to jihad!

As one reader commented (Hot Air):

Tamerlan “Rocky Balboa” Tsarnaev.

Can’t the Koch Bros. buy the NYT and turn it into a comic book publishing enterprise?

Friedman is dork. The furry parasite that lives on his lip must have crawled up his nose and ate his brain.

No, no, no, didn't you read Friedman's article?

He wants a new carbon tax so that USA could be a shining example in the world, to attract more immigrants like teh Chechen brothers here....(for some reason).

Yeah, he's a nut/nuts.

This “monolog” would fit well in “Animal House” the movie.
“When Germans bombed the Pearl Harbor”

The NY Times readers being reamed by Giant Pink Dildo, but they don’t seem to notice, as if it’s perfectly natural act.

Meanwhile in Red Square mausoleum, the wax doll is smiling.

Not even the EU has been crazy enough to go for a full carbon tax. Even their cap and trade system has been a total failure.

Barry and his goofball supporters like Friedman won't be happy until they have totally sunk the American economy.
