The cookware giant has decided to temporarily stop selling pressure cookers at retail locations, including the Garden City store in Cranston.
If you're in the market for a new pressure cooker to whip up some stew or pulled pork, don't head to the Cranston Williams-Sonoma for the time being.
Williams-Sonoma, the specialty retailer of home furnishings and gourmet cookware with more than 250 stores in the United States, has pulled pressure cookers from their shelves following the Boston Marathon bombing.
It was first reported that Williams-Sonoma pulled pressure cookers from shelves in stores in Massachusetts, but a call to the Cranston location in Garden City Center shows the company has issued a larger company directive.
Cranston store manager Kyle, who asked his last name not to be used, said pressure cookers were taken off the shelves via a company directive because it didn't seem appropriate to sell them in the wake of the marathon bombings....

W-S Don’t forget the evil kitchen knives, hundreds of thousands wounded each year /s
Stupid, stupid, stupid ... the terrorists will just find another vessel for their bombs.
Which pipe manufacturer will be the first to pull all pipe supplies, after all pipe as a bomb making material has been around a long time.
I heard the Boston bombs contained nails and BBs. It’s time to ban all nails larger than a 3-penny, and 3-penny nails can only be purchased in lots of five, and at that there must be a 72-hour waiting period. As for BBs...forget it!
I get my evil Pressure Cookers at Goodwill. Cheap and untracable.
Nails, ball bearings, wire, batteries, cell phones, backpacks will be next.
Well that’ll sure help.
I have 2 used pressure cookers in good condition which i would be willing to sell to anyone who is not on a terrorist watch list.
I bought one there that looked good but beware of worn-out gaskets (I think that’s what they’re called).
Surprisingly my pressure cooker fell out of my boat as I was crossing our local lake to register it with the authorities. To bad, so sad.
DHS will buy up all the pressure cookers.
Geez it’s just gesture. People need to lighten up. What they’re doing harms nothing
So, if muslims start deploying car bombs in America, are cars going to be pulled from the shelves too?
Muslims attack, Americans get punished...
BUT WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE WE DON’T FORM ANY NEGATIVE OPINIONS ABOUT THE MUSLIMS OH NO...
How STUPID and really gutless! It’s like NBC pulling episode 4 of Hannibal because of the Boston bombings.
Not the vessel with the pestle I trust.
You mean except those customers who need a pressure cooker to prepare meals for themselves and their families? Where does it end? What else do I have to give up besides, firearms, cold medications, cooking utensils, privacy, tax monies, trust, the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th amendments and goodness knows what else?
Well, we could watch Operation Rabbit where wile e. coyote tries to build a pressure cooker on top of Bugs!
So now is Obama going to want anyone who purchases a pressure cooker to have a permit?
Gotta love the satire - looks so real.
Get real. If you need a pressure cooker go online to WS or go to Target. No one is taking cookware away from you
I predict henceforth that image will be downloaded with impunity!
I know I did,
Buy it online or get a cheaper brand if it is a matter of true survival. No company owes anyone any product.
Mrs. 2ndDivisionVet has a great automatic electric pressure cooker that she uses at least once every week or so. That wasn’t my point. Williams-Sonoma must be run by PC idiots.
That’s why I made it.
It’s their business to run as they please
BTW, I am in the market for a pressure cooker, since we are eating more meals at home, and buying ever cheaper cuts of meats.
I don't grill outside or broil inside, so cooking chicken or ribs by processing the meat through a pressure cooker first, makes the most of my infrequent meat buys.
Full disclosure, I am probably on some kind of government watch list.
I know how to plant, tend, harvest and preserve vegetables.
I can kill, skin, clean and cook several varieties of fish and small mammals.
I am a veteran of the USA DOD.
Oh and yes, I have also attended several TEA Party rallies.
Odd thing though, I have never shopped at a Williams-Sonoma store.
Isn't that one of those high priced, yuppie kitchen stores catering to people who don't know how to use cast iron skillets?
Not at all, the way things are going. Here in CA incandescent light bulbs have vanished from store shelves. You also have to show a driver's license and sign a waiver just to buy former over-the-counter drugs like Mucinex. They keep cans of spray paint locked in steel cages to keep taggers from stealing them.
I'm old enough to remember going with my Dad to the hardware store to buy cases of dynamite, caps and fuse in any quantity we needed -- no questions asked. We used them to quarry stone and blow up stumps on the farm. I had to get my Mom to sign at the drugstore on hydrochloric and sulphuric acid for my chemistry set though.
Julia Chiles was a SPY, she must have been working for GWBush!(/s)
It is their choice and I will defend that choice but I will still call them pu**ies for it. (not puppies)
Thanks for the great image. I’ll be sending it around to my pressure cooker friends. :)
Well if it makes you feel better then by all means, call them names
Let me take a wild guess here.Everyone in the world is presumed to know where Garden City and Cranston are.
Is it not obvious that Free Republic is an international forum?
A gesture to what a police state?
and gun powder.
FRiend, it is an empty gesture, a stupid gesture. It adds weight, however insignificant, to the theme that any object that is used in mayhem must be banned. Now, as you say in another post, if you want one, you can buy it online. I’ll add, at another store or perhaps a pressure cooker and gun show. Hence the emptiness. The problem is, it is putting the focus on the object and not the berk that is using that object for no good. It’s a mindset thing. Men are from Mars, liberals are from Uranus.
“Everyone in the world is presumed to know where Garden City and Cranston are.”
Yep. They’re in Amurrica....near Springfield, probly.
So what if Williams-Sonoma cannot do much about international terrorism ? They can’t win for losing apparently. At least management isn’t siding with the Muslims or covering for the people that did this. What they can do is make an overt attempt not only to support the victims but to diffuse the now intimate link between one of their products and bombmaking which most Americans didn’t even know existed a week ago.
STOP THE INANIMATE OBJECTS! STOP THE INANIMATE OBJECTS!
Ignore the Muslims who want you to submit or die.
My grammy used to use a pressure cooker all the time to cook her potatoes.
I can still hear that whistling steam sound....
wondered when that crap would start
In the last couple days, I’ve seen hoarding, and the supermarket shelves almost empty of the kind of vegetables you would normally load into a pressure cooker - celery, potatoes, onions, beans, etc. Only a few online sites have them now, and are limiting customers to small orders.
My wife loves her Technique Brand Pressure Cooker. Automatic, electric with voice instructions.
They’re still selling them at their online site.
