This is a fabulous example of how the social wing and the libertine wing of the conservative movement can join together. I congratulate the FPC for publishing this and publicizing this, even though the CEO of Edens Foods hardly sounds like a social conservative warrior. This is the recipe folks!
Agree 100% with Potter. This is not a religious argument, it’s an argument over the power and jurisdiction of the fedguv. Do they or do they not have the power and jurisdiction to tell a private individual how to compensate an employee? I say no. Do they have the lower to tell a private company what services they must offer? I say no.
This CEO articulated the issue perfectly. Many seem more comfortable just addressing it from the religious perspective but I’ve always objected to the idea that the federal government can dictate what benefits a company will offer or not. It is bad enough that corporations and small businesses have been turned into virtual extensions of the federal government where tax collection etc are concerned but this kind of thing takes it far further. I’m not familiar with Eden Foods but I’ve become a regular customer of Wholefoods after their brave CEO spoke out and we frequent HobbyLobby so I’ll be checking out Eden Foods. We need to reward those companies that stand up for liberty.
YEP. Rick Santorum, heed please......
Thanks oneprolifewoman.
BTTT!!! I love their seasoning salt, Gomasio, and plan to find as many other products of theirs as I can. No soy though, shudders.
Dear Lord, please share your strength.
Tatt
I’m hardly part of the “liberal, crunchy crowd”, and I eat their products.
Let's just say none of them have a conservative bone in their bodies, nor is this a particularly nice human being.
I applaud what he's saying here (I even know why he's saying it, but it's not because he's a conservative), but even Howard Zinn said one or two things that were correct.
Very interesting insight. Sorry to hear that’s the case, and whether he meant it or not, it is a road map for how socons and libertines can and should work together on issues....
Perhaps Mr Potter is being squeezed with having more than 50 employees and is now having second thoughts, because he isn't the deep thinker that the CEO of Whole Foods is.
The greens are blinded by red, and on occasion blunder on to the truth.......which is likely what he has done......
It is shocking to learn that so much of it is naivete....maybe that’s why Potter was so angry and frustrated. Maybe he really is having a “come to Jesus” moment....
Whole Foods carries a lot of Eden Foods products. One benefit is their canned foods do NOT have BPA linings.
I'd like to believe you're right, but have my doubts.
I just saw that on the website. I ordered some directly anyway. Its absolutely crazy seeing some of the posts on the Eden Foods facebook. The Sandra Fluke Crowd are out like zombies to fresh meat. It looks like they are failing though.
I won’t touch anything with gmo soy in it (90%) now thanks to Monsanto.
But I will defend this dope’s right not to follow bambi on this issue!
Many (all?) of Eden Foods products are organic which means no GMO anything.
Easy to agree with the above...
