Chuck Schumer's Triumph [How Rubio Was Played by Veteran Schemer Schumer!]

Chuck Schumer's Triumph

RICH LOWRY 4/17 Everyone presumes Sen. Chuck Schumer, the media hungry Democrat from New York, wants to be the next Senate majority leader. If his performance in the Gang of Eight negotiations over immigration is any indication of his skills in such a role, Harry Reid should abdicate and turn over his leadership position to the New Yorker immediately.

Schumer has been at the center of crafting a bill for a mass amnesty of undocumented immigrants that has high-profile, bipartisan support and a chance of becoming law. He had the shrewdness to realize what he needed to do to make the bill viable and the wherewithal to effect it.

If you are going to have any hope of passing a sweeping amnesty bill in a divided Congress, you need a conservative Republican with credibility with the party’s base invested in it and willing to go out and aggressively advocate for it. If he is a potential front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, all the better.

You need bells and whistles about triggers and enforcement so the aforementioned conservative Republican can portray the bill as a toughening of the nation’s immigration laws.

But, to make it palatable to your own side, you need a near instantaneous amnesty before anything else meaningful happens.

Check, check and check. Even the most incorrigible Schumer critic has to concede: Well played, senator, well played.

Schumer rightly recognized the importance of keeping on board Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who has been tireless and fearless in making the case for the Gang of Eight’s approach. The muted reaction of the right to the bill is a testament to its fondness and respect for Rubio.

If it were Schumer rather than Rubio out making the case for the bill on seven Sunday....

Rubio is old enough to make his own decisions and take responsibility for them. There is no blaming anyone else.

Rubio is a willing patsy in this travesty. Whether he was a Manchurian candidate or someone got to him does not matter. The fact is he has sold out the United States of America. He is a traitor of the worst shade. If this amnesty bill passes, the country will be handed to the Left and that is our death warrant. As Lincoln quoted the scripture (Matthew 12:25) a house divided against itself cannot stand.

I cannot believe that patriots like Rush and Mark Levin are giving this pretty boy the time of day. His game is obvious and he does not warrant the respectful questioning he is getting.

You got Rubio pegged.
He agreed to citizenship (voting) to meet Dems conditions to even start negotiations with them.

Now Rubio is trying to sell himself as a conservative protecting our interests to get us to buy this.

Sadly, Rubio has revealed that he is not ready for prime time. He’s no Ted Cruz.

RE :”Sadly, Rubio has revealed that he is not ready for prime time. He’s no Ted Cruz.”

I get the impression that Rubio is hot to run for POTUS and that Cruz is not, so Rub thinks compassionate conservatism is his best hope, in Cruz's case it gives him freedom to not be running.

Now Cruz is really sharp. He knows exactly how to say things to cause maximum pain to Dems with minimum backlash. He is NO Akin

Rubio has long been pushing “DREAM AMNESTY”, rejected joining the Senate Tea party caucus and embraced the establishment RINOs.

Rubio has NEVER been conservative.

OT: anyone been able to open “Right Scoop” - appears to be dead.
