Gun Control: Senate Blocks Background Checks (Obama: "pretty shameful day for Washington")
Sky News ^ | April 17, 2013 | US Staff

Barack Obama has issued a scathing rebuke to the US Senate, calling it "shameful" after lawmakers rejected a bipartisan measure to expand the scope of background checks for gun buyers in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shootings.

Speaking at the White House, the president said the Senate members had decided it "wasn't worth it" to save children's lives through stricter gun control.

He also railed against the National Rifle Association, saying the gun lobby and its allies "willfully lied" to its constituents about the contents of the bill in order to defeat it.

"All in all this is a pretty shameful day for Washington," Mr Obama said.

Even though Wednesday's vote was on a bipartisan compromise, it fell short of the 60 votes it needed to pass the Senate.

Also speaking at the White House, Sandy Hook parent Mark Barden, who lost his son Daniel on December 14, said the bill's failure would not stop him and others from fighting for limits on firearms.....

This punk of a president seems angrier about losing his vote than he did about his country being attacked by terrorists, it’s children being murdered in the streets and its citizens having their body parts blown from their bodies.

Mr. Obama, it is you who is shameful. You are a pathetic, small man.

No, the shameful day occurred in November when voter fraud and stupid voters put this tyrant back in the White House.

Our forefathers would disagree, Mr. Obama. They wrote it specifically to ward off what you are trying to do.

Having all these gun laws also attacks the IVth amendment."to be secure in their persons, houses, papers etc..."

Any day the scoundrel in the WH says such things is a good day for America and it’s children.

What is shameful is that so many Senators voted to further criminalize self-defense and thereby put Americans and their children at greater risk.

What'd they lie about?

What stopped Obumbo from going on national TV and calling them out for their lies, exposing those liars for one and all to see?

I've come to the conclusion that if Obama does not care for it, then -- like vegetables -- it's probably good for "We the People". Eat your peas, Mr. Pres__ent.

Yes it’s shameful.

They were caught trying to limit the Constitution, again.

Even fast and furious 2.0 didn’t help.

The goal was to have us disarmed. It was going to be his crowing achievement it making the US “safe”.

However, remember this man is a narcissist. I grew up with one. When they don’t get their way, they are prone to fits of rage, and irrational actions. He is the most power man in the world, and he is very, very angry.

A narcissist with that much power is very dangerous.

Point of contention, there. Had Romney been in the Whitehouse, McCain and Graham would have had their way and this legislation would have passed in bi-partisan fashion. The Republicans would have been held responsible for trashing the Second Amendment instead of Obama and his minions. It sucks having Obama anywhere near the Executive Office, but in this instance, I think we are better off for it than the alternative.
