In 1987 I had the pleasure of being part of a group of people who escorted Yuri around northern Colorado visiting various conservative groups.

That sounds like it was interesting.

Yuri loved America.

I notice that many immigrants do -- I know a man from my church, from Argentina, who can tell you exactly the parallels between the US now and the fall of Argentina; you can tell he loves the American ideal and doesn't want the same to befall this country.

Yes, it was interesting. Yuri was a character and he taught us all a lot.

After a few vodkas, he’d tear up and curse the communists and our media. He detested people like Dan Rather.
