NY Gun Confiscation Underway – Citizens Told to Turn in Pistol Owner ID & Firearms
AmmoLand ^ | April 8, 2013 | Dan Roberts

Remember all those who denied that firearms confiscation as a result of New York’s new gun laws was too “insane” to even consider?

That it was strictly in the realm of paranoid conspiracy theorists and the “it cant happen here crowd”?

Those were and remain some of the standard replies to anyone who even thought about the possibility, let alone gave voice to it, despite the fact that Gov Cuomo and numerous other officials made public comments about such a plan, as I discussed in my article “Feinstein & Cuomo Admit Planning Australian Style Government Gun Buy Back” .

Elected Officials, the media, various Gun Control Groups and their zealous forced disarmament supporters, even some firearms owners themselves all insisted it was to crazy to even consider.

There’s just one huge problem it is happening now in New York State!

It seems those that tried desperately to warn of such an insidious plot had hit the bullseye with their warnings after all. News came from multiple NY State based firearms enthusiast websites late Friday that confiscations of Pistol Owner ID Cards, as well as firearms and accessories has commenced in NY under the provisions of the horribly flawed, draconian and blatantly unconstitutional NY SAFE Act.

Those folks having their weapons and FID cards confiscated have been discovered to have been prescribed multiple different types of psychotropic drugs, such as those for Depression or Anxiety. These are known as SSRI ( Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) class drugs and have the potential to cause serious and adverse side effects, something I wrote about extensively last week in an article that went viral in days and caused multiple Anti Gun and Progressive News Groups to initiate a concentrated denial of service hacker attack...

But we can't arrest illegal aliens or drug addicts in the ER because that might make them not seek medical attention when they need it.

Good point. They are so afraid of scaring, hurting feeling or offending minorities, Illegals and Muslims, but they have no problems with cracking down on legal gun owners.

Patients who go on SSRI’s are not being told they were yielding their 2nd amendment rights. Just think if you went on an allergy medication and weren’t told that by doing so, you yield your right to freedom of speech or assembly. Some smart lawyers are going to make a fortune in malpractice lawsuits.

Ok, you've linked one more article. Let's see what it says. Here's some excerpts of your source.

The owner says his pistol permit might have been suspended because of past medications he was prescribed.

Also,

Tresmond (the attorney) believes it might be linked to his client's past medications

Any encroachment, including the Gun Control Acts of '34 and '68 are direct violations of our 2nd Amendment Rights. But as for the guy in the above referenced article, there's too many "could be's" and "might be's" to know why they took his guns. There very likely could be way more to this story and I prefer to see some verifiable and conclusive evidence before I jump on this particular bandwagon.

“This year will go down in history for the first time a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future.”

Millions of people take trazadone and amitritptyline and other tricyclics to aid in sleep. These drugs are considered psychotropic drugs. Thus many millions are now subject to gun confiscation although they have no mental problems.

NOTE: Hippa is a federal law. What are the chances of Eric Holder prosecuting violations of Hippa when used for gun confiscation.

health care provider can be anyone and anything. Even a desk jockey insurance supervisor is a “provider.”

No medical training required.

Decisions will be made based on racial quotas, immigration origin, political positions/registrations and religion. (very ussr)

I am now in search of the ‘underground’ doctors, cash only.

There seems to be more and more of them popping up. Since they are underground, it’s difficult to find one.....but I will continue my search.

It’s one of the inevitable results of everyone screaming about the drugs that these crazy people used/took when they went out and shot people up.

You might as well say it was inevitable they’d grab all the guns. If it wasn’t this it’d be something else.

I don’t believe it’s inevitable that our guns will be taken from us, at least not in my lifetime, and I figure I’ve got 15-20 yrs left.

Also, isn’t this an admission that the drugs are the problem?

It is the pretext.

If a person has a competency issue, there has to be a ruling by a judge based on medical experts and representation by counsel.

This s a taking without court due process and just some “provider”. If the provider decides they don’t like the second amendment then nobody who crosses their desk will have any second amendment civil rights.

This is a matter that screams for an emergency injunction.

A neuro doc prescribed a trial of valium for “a friend” last year for spasticity (muscle stiffness) associated with an MS-like condition (which is also frequently prescribed for folks with MS) having nothing to do with a mental health diagnosis.

After one day “my friend” stopped taking the valium due to immediate adverse side effects.

Looks like “my friend” needs to rent a boat soon!
