My Ducks were neighbors delight ... they would bring their toddlers and bread and just throw it over the fence ... Ducks just do their thing... look cool and eat bread, had some Wild Ducks that would stay with the “Herd” leave and come back every year then that petered out too. Then once the Hawks discovered my flock... they were all gone within 2 weeks, but it took 6 years for the Hawks to figure it out...

I was feeling restless and decided to experiment in the garden today. There’s still snow on the ground in places, but I’m itching to plant, so I made my own wall-o-water.
Cut the bottom off a 20oz plastic bottle and remove the lid. Cut the top and bottom off a larger bottle or milk jug. Place the small bottle over the seedling (well, in this case it was a tomato cutting from my indoor tomato vine), set the larger bottle around the smaller one and anchor it well. Then, fill the space between with plastic baggies full of water.
I have friends who swear by their wall-o-waters, but every time I see them in the store they’re always more than I can spare. We’ll see if my improvised version works. If it doesn’t, I can always snip a few more tomato cuttings.
I bought one of those last spring.
It has a couple problems.
First, what it describes as Heavy Duty plastic, well, not so much. The plastic on mine is now (after being set up a year) stretching a bit and I think the UV light is starting to take it’s toll.
Second, DO NOT put weighty items on the top shelf. I had a couple bottles of fish fertilizer and Round up, that kind of stuff on the top shelves and the thing is now leaning a bit.
Besides for that, it’s pretty good! I can still use it as a greenhouse, I just moved the heavier stuff to the bottom shelf. It is easy to assemble. If I need to, I can add some 1X1’s to sturdy it up.
But I think long term, the plastic simply won’t last which is a darn shame, because the zipper setup is very nice!

That’s a good idea. Let me know how that works. I looked at some on Amazon but it would be a lot of money to do that for each seed.
I have one very heavy, fire resistant Sentry (I think that is the brand) box with a carry handle. That contains important papers and I would take that with me if I had to leave the house. It does not contain anything valuable to a burglar.
My “safes” are items that look like regular everyday household non-important items, but aren't. A burglar would have no idea where to look for valuable items, including money. Naturally, I can't tell you what these everyday items are that are not really those items. My son does know. I have had these for many years so one wouldn't find these exact ones today which is a plus.
Burglars look for safes. I prefer what I have rather than identifiable safes.
After time, if the plastic cover begins to have a problem, I have plenty of clear strong tape to repair it.

I won’t forget to put holes in bottom of cups.
Seeds should be here some time toward end of week.
Machete should be here this week to start cutting down dead thorny limbs in garden.
Glad to have this greenhouse to keep birds from eating seed.
