If someone today argued for laws to legally bar interracial marriage that person would universally be labeled a bigot.
But in 1967 when the U.S. Supreme Court in Loving v. Virginia struck down state laws prohibiting interracial marriage, 73% of Americans still supported them. Did that mean that more than 70% of Americans at that time were bigots? No. But there certainly came a time that you were one if you continued advocating for such discriminatory laws.

If you own a business that provides goods or services to a couple that is getting married, or is married, then you will have to treat same-sex couples the same way or risk being sued or found in violation of state and/or federal law with the consequent penalties.
If your child is taught in sex education class that same-sex relationships are no different than heterosexual ones, and you complain then you will either be ignored or investigated for child abuse.
If you home school your children and fail to teach them that same-sex relationships are no different than heterosexual ones you might be accused of child abuse and have your children taken from you to be "properly" trained in public schools.
The word 'bigot' just don't enter into it.

I heard something about this on the radio that just ticked me off. According to the moron who was talking, EVERYONE, who is a “nice person” should “support” homosexual marriage. WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT MEAN? “Support” it how? Send them all a “wedding” present? “Support” what? What a crock. The homosexuals can “support” me by staying out of my face with their sexual deviant agenda. I could care less if the “majority” of the morons living in this country think sexual deviancy is cute and cool according to some “latest poll”.

“Bigotry” is by definition based on irrational views of some particular group/demographic. It’s clear they don’t know what the word means, or are using it incorrectly on purpose, and/or operating with the view that there is no rational reasons to oppose anything about homosexuality.
There are plenty of rational reasons to oppose homosexuality, and certainly many more for opposing militant activist homosexuality.
Don't forget, you're probably also a terrorist, too.
