NBC "Today" news anchor Jenna Wolfe announced on the morning show on Wednesday that she is having a baby girl with partner and NBC News correspondent Stephanie Gosk, acknowledging her gay partnership publicly for the first time.

"This is big for me, I'm actually pregnant," Wolfe, who is the anchor for "Weekend Today," said. "I'm quite pregnant, actually."

Wolfe said the baby is due on August 27 and that she will keep a diary-style blog about her pregnancy.

"It's ... about documenting my fears, funnies and follies that come with doing this for the first time," Wolfe wrote in her first entry. "I've never changed a diaper ... I don't really understand what a breast pump is."

Wolfe, 39, and Gosk, 40, have been together for three years.....

Sisters would have as much of a chance of having a baby together as this woman does. If there’s no procreation, who cares WHAT pretends to get married to what.

If we are going to destroy institutions just to help some people get benefits, the sisters and brothers that live together their entire lives certainly deserve equal treatment under the law. The government has absolutely NO COMPELLING interest to favor non-related cohabitation than related cohabitation.

And certainly two brothers, or two sisters, could raise a child together AT LEAST AS WELL as two non-related individuals. If nothing else, they are more likely to keep tolerating one another and not separate.

A "breast pump" is the mouth of that precious life growing inside you. At least have the decency if you are going to raise the child as a bastard to let them have ONE parent in their life; don't pawn them off to some other paid party while you run back to work and pump yourself.

Being that I was given up by a teen mother and adopted at three months old through Lutheran Social Services, I’m a bastard, right?

It’s a definition, like Marriage. It has been used with negative connotations as well. You are an illegitimate child (a child born out of wedlock). You are also a child who was denied the opportunity to grow up knowing your biological parents. That may or may not matter to you now, but it was hardly a choice you would have made as a baby, and your opinion now is shaped by the sad fact that this is what your life actually was.

Your situation may have been better than what it could have been, but it was not optimal. In my opinion, one biological parent is better than none, and two better than one. Beyond that, two opposite-sex parents are better than two same-sex parents; two parents are better than one parent.

I don’t have a study, but in my opinion a child raised by a teen mother who has two good parents to assist is probably better off than a child who is given up for adoption. On the other hand, certainly there are many cases where an adoptive family is a fantastic family; you can’t make a general rule that doesn’t have specific exceptions.

The worst part about THIS story is that the woman has made a deliberate decision to have a bastard child. This isn’t some mistake that they are making the best of. This is the CHOICE. As I said in another thread, there are many selfish people who think that, as they get older and their other possessions are not sufficient, that they should own a child as well. They want to have a child, like they had a nice car, or a pet.

So they have the child, then they get someone to care for the child, like they hire a gardener to take care of their yard, and a maid to take care of their house. They look forward to the government taking over primary care for their child when school comes around, and probably support government-run preschool and child care tax credits.
