Can anyone beat the NRA?

Wayne LaPierre may have more blood on his hands than Dracula, but — fair is fair — he also has the guts of a burglar.

He will say anything to advance the agenda of the National Rifle Association, which he runs, and he doesn’t worry about his critics. Under his leadership, the NRA has grown and today is one of the most feared lobbies on Capitol Hill.

I should point out that, unlike Dracula, LaPierre neither kills people nor drinks their blood. It is just my personal belief that the NRA’s gun mania has led to the slaughter of thousands of innocent men, women and children in this country.

It is just my personal belief that rogersimon is a closet member of nambla and should be hung by the scrotum, but that is just a personal belief with no facts to back it up. Makes us about co-equally oblivious to the importance of facts.

Because left-wing lobbying are “grass roots” groups who represent individuals with real concerns and are supported by those people and do their best to represent them and they fart only rainbows, whereas conservative lobbying groups spring into existence spontaneously like mold or the bugs under rocks and don’t represent anyone except corporate fat cats. They should be tried for treason for complicity in mass murder and then promptly hanged.

Too merciful. Flay 'em.

The "thousands" that may have died becasue of an armed populace doesn't compare with the TENS OF MILLIONS citizens that have died at the hands of their own Socialist governments.

And don't forget that some of those "thousands" are ones who SHOULD have died, who in that socialist tyranny would be MORE free to ply their trade and create MORE misery for innocents. Also, forget not that many more of the thousands are those who put themselves in harm's way, firearm-wise, by their choice of culture and association, and whose deaths, while not really a countable plus like my first group, is certainly no great tragedy, because it was their own choice. Take all those out and what's left is a statistical blip, like the number of people struck by lightning. Nothing to make policy on unless you're stupid as a Democrat. Shall we outlaw lightning next?

“But, out in public and in front of a camera, we need a new face.
Ted Nugent! Now that would be fun!”

Great idea! I would sign up for that!

"Planned Parenthood has more blood on their hand than Adolph Hitler!"

Looked at a slightly different way......the blood spilled by Planned Parenthood is on Adolph's hands as wellas their own. They are just faithfully following the tenets he helped establish. Ditto the euthanasia movement, and on and on for most of the socialist credos.

“I have yet, to see one of those organizations provide a historical view of American firearms, and teach firearm safety, and marksmanship (which might be still a Scout badge), to our future generations.”

Mr. Smith, regarding your comment about Scouts and shooting sports... The Rifle Shooting Merit Badge and Shotgun Shooting Merit Badge are quite alive and well in the Boy Scout program. I am an NRA Training Counselor and MB Instructor for my council's summer camp shooting program. We will see almost 1,000 youth come thru the MB programs this summer, some of whom have never handled a firearm before - and may never again, but they will learn SAFETY - Knowledge - Skills and a proper Attitude when they finish the course. The kids are taught using the NRA First Steps training supplemented with BSA specific requirements.
The kids want to learn - we have to give them the opportunity....

Please note that the guns used in these random killings are not the guns owned by licensed gun owners. Course this makes no difference to the Bloomburgs and friends who want to punish everyone for the crimes of a few. Do we really understand their agenda?

Let's not pretend public safety has anything to do with the other side.

“Trust the professionals”. Their goal is to rid public of all firearms.

Yes, we, or as least I do. Their agenda is simple. it is to control every aspect of yours, mine, and everyone except those in power lives. It is to have power of life and death over those they onsider inferior to them. It is to have the inferiors live or die at their whims. It is to that every thing those they consider beneath them, including their life and convert it to their use and pleasure. Controlling or preventing crime has nothing to do with it.

Sure, Roger, whatever. Trust me, Congress isn't afraid of 4.5 million NRA members or the redoubtable Wayne LaPierre. It's afraid of the anger of 90 million gun owners who are getting increasingly sick of being the whipping boys of the Left.

The difficulty is simply that shrieking didn't get them by this time, or at least so far, and their professional lobbyists got pushback from our professional lobbyists. Put gun control on the ballot and the same thing happens. You lose, Roger.

Wayne LaPierre may have more blood on his hands than Dracula, but — fair is fair — he also has the guts of a burglar.

Roger Simon may have the writing skills of a chimpanzee, but he has the guts of a child molester.

He gets the Chicago Press Club's Jake Lingle Awardfor this hack piece, though at least Lingle worked for the Chi Trib.

Roger Simon is the Chief Political Columnist of Politico. He grew up on the South Side of Chicago where politics was a contact sport.

At the Chicago Sun-Times, where he wrote a column four times per week, Simon was taught that the only way for a journalist to look upon a politician was down. He now fights against that impulse daily.
