A comprehensive new Harvard University report on Americans under 30, the so-called Millennials, shows that the economy is having a crushing impact, with just 62 percent working, and of those, half are toiling at part-time jobs.

The report, released by Harvard's Institute of Politics, paints a depressing economic portrait of young Americans, many of whom are stuck with huge college tuition bills and little chance of finding a high-paying job.

But over half, or 59 percent of those aged 18-29, have gone to college and The report reveals that time in college is a better sign of social status than income, mostly because jobs aren't available.

Contrary to common media wisdom, most younger Americans did not vote in the last election. Of the 46 million Millennials, just half voted. "Although turnout was higher than it was in 1996 and 2000, it was right back to where it has been consistently from 1976-1992," said The report compiled by the National Conference on Citizenship, the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement at Tufts University's Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service, Harvard University's Institute of Politics, and Mobilize.org.

Well, as a "Boomer" with 42 years in, I don't feel like getting out of the way for a bunch of lazy thumbsuckers who whine for their "entitled" success.

When I was in my twenties I worked two and, at various times, three jobs plus juggled between evening classes, part-time classes and full time loads. Then there was marriage and becoming a father.

God gives the human body extra energy and durability during those years so you can handle it. I'm so thankful that Reagan was president by the time I turned 30 so I actually got to keep some of what I had worked for.

That ass Carter was president when I turned 20 and we did what we had to do to keep our heads above water at that time. Low paying jobs were at least available then. Now, Carter on 'roids is working to destroy those jobs along with all of the others.

And, yes, I don't feel sorry for the lazy thumbsuckers who voted for this sh*t, but a third of them (including all my kids) did not and they are suffering too.

Like you, I intend to stick around for as long as I am physically able to work.

Same here. To pay my way through college I worked 3 part-time jobs with a full daytime class load in computer science. It didn’t even occur to me to get college loan.

Today students are dangled easy credit terms, with no interest and no principal due before graduation. Colleges encourage over-applying (for cost-of-living — room and board, transportation, food, etc). The kids think it’s free money. It creates a handout mentality.

Like you, I too hit my 20’ s when Carter was president.

The difference is we did not grow up with everything we asked for. We learned that if you wanted something we had to find a way to make money to buy it.

I cut grass at 10 had paper route at 14 and drove a forklift for old crotchety Anderson on his lumber yard at 16. By 17 I had joined the army and realized life was a bitch. I am now in my 50s my home is paid for and I have no debt.

All Thanks to a work ethic I learned at a young age not some government program or snot nosed Muslim from Chicago.
