Bloom Energy paid workers in pesos

An old friend Bloom Energy is making news, and not in a good way.

The San Jose Mercury News reported today that Bloom Energy, a political heavyweight, paid workers brought in from Mexico in pesos:

"Authorities said Bloom Energy paid the Mexican workers in pesos by wiring funds back to bank accounts in Chihuahua. Bloom also paid for the men to stay in a Sunnyvale motel and provided each with a meal stipend of $50 a day."

If true, that's stunning for a company with a board of directors that includes former Secretary of State Colin Powell and Silicon Valley venture capitalist John Doerr.

We have written about Bloom before, detailing how it gobbled up more than $200 million in subsidies in 2010, thanks to the California Public Utilities Commission.

And after receiving California gold, Bloom expanded operations in Delaware. It also makes its Bloom Boxes in Mexico, the Merc notes.

Powell, another so called "conservative" who had the rest of us fooled.

“provided each with a meal stipend of $50 a day.”

A majority of Americans can’t even come close to this extravagant number. These clowns are complaining about this?

Never had true conservatives fooled. I've met the man twice, and you can pick him out as a bleeding heart as easy as you can GWB and his dad.

One thing you can say for the Bush men, they do have some character as compared to Colin.

He didn’t have ALL of us fooled. I never liked the sob. I was pissed when W named him SOS after he had refused to pick a side in the recount. And we all knew he had an “ALL THE WAY WITH LBJ” bumper sticker on his car during his early affirmative action training.

If I went on an assignment in Mexico, I would still want to be paid in my home currency to my regular home bank.

Why would we expect Mexicans to be any different?

He never had me fooled. The only thing we shared common ground on was defeating the Soviet Union. The Dems were sympathic to the communists. Powell, being a General, supported Reagan’s approach of ending the cold war.

He was for preferences for his skin color tribe. He was for the welfare state (a socialist). He was always threatening Republicans that if they reformed anything, he would join the Dems. It was really disgusting. After we brought down the Soviets, he disappeared. He joined the Dems.

The issue here was that the men were paid less than half the Federal minimum wage.

That’s also the reason Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas got their jobs. Marshall because LBJ said he “wanted to see a n-—— siting there.” And Thomas because there wasn’t gonna’ be one sittin’ in there after Marshall left. It really irks me when someone is promoted because they’re black. Then the guy doin’ the promotin’ says he appointed the “most qualified” for the position. I’m not saying Thomas wasn’t qualified. But the MOST qualified?
