Joe McCarthy was right all along

Most Europeans are unlikely to be familiar with the facts behind the American term “McCarthyism.” They probably know it describes something very bad in American politics—the “Communist witch hunts” of more than half a century ago. They may also know that simply uttering the term, like casting a spell, stops all debate cold by associating someone with the eponymous Joseph McCarthy. As the story goes, he was himself very bad. After all, he conducted those long ago “Communist witch hunts,” ruining his name in perpetuity. This probably exhausts general knowledge.

But here’s a secret: Most Americans know little more than this same familiar but completely false narrative. In recent years, stunning revelations from archives in Washington and Moscow have confirmed that McCarthy’s investigations—and those conducted by other officials before and after—netted not innocent and imaginary “witches,” but secret cadres of hardened Communist agents determined to bring down the American republic. Surely, this makes Joe McCarthy a great patriot and deserving “the plaudits of a grateful nation.” …

Didn’t see this posted here. Also posted on RSN website. The infiltrators in FDR’s government and the things they did (helping turn China communist) bear more than some passing scrutiny.

Joe McCarthy was a great man but was targeted by the commies from the get-go. Surprisingly to many, he was the Godfather of Robert Kennedy’s daughter Kathleen Kennedy (Townsend). Robert and John were friends and admirers of Joe...that was back when even some democrats disliked communists.

That is one thing William F. Buckley should be praised for. He defended McCarthy when very few would.

Joe “Tailgunner Joe” McCarthy was a proven liar claiming to have been a combat veteran, making it an early case of stolen honor. Lyndon Baines Johnson later regreted accepting the award of a decoration that was not actually earned in WWII. Yet, Joe McCarthy was regarded by Robert kennedy as a good friend, and Kennedy attended McCarthy’s funeral.

It has been speculated due to these and a number of other factors that Joe McCarthy may have served as an agent provocateur specifically to create a public backlash against investigations against Communists and thereby shield against further actions being taken against Communists. If so, the ploy was highly successful to the point where no inquiries against Communism and its conspiracies to overthrow Constitutional government are allowed.

- incredible book. I was amazed at how much of the common understanding of McCarthy was complete BS.

Evans’ Law of Inadequate Paranoia: “No matter how bad you think something is,” he says, “when you look into it, it’s always worse.”

I’ll have to remember that!

"...and thereby shield against further actions being taken against Communists."

Interesting point because all McCarthy did was parrot HUAC (Which would have been harder to ridicule and debase the truth).

Too bad we don’t have a Joe McCarthy today!

I'll repeat the gist of what I posted here a few months ago and later was told that it appeared on some leftist websites.

Here are a few terms meant as to derisive that, anymore, I consider to be badges of honor:

Uncharacteristically for me, since I considered him a servant of Satan, I'll quote from Franklin Diablo Roosevelt (the worst president of my lifetime, paving the way for the likes of Obama) and use FDR's words against him: They are unanimous in their hate for me and I welcome their hatred. Liberals have so fouled political discourse that their words of enmity I now embrace.

Don’t make the mistake I made for much of my life, and many people like you are still making: accepting the liberal/media slander of Joseph McCarthy.

HUAC is the sound a liberal makes while clearing his/her throat.

It was the House Committee On Un-American Activities. NOT the House(’s) Un-American Activities Committee (which was the liberal’s taunting way to say that the House was engaging in Un-American activities).
