According to figures revealed in California Gov. Jerry Brown's 2013-14 budget proposal, the number of Hispanics will be equal to the number of whites by July of this year--39% of Californians will be Hispanic and 39% will be white then. By the end of the year, the number of Hispanics will outnumber whites.

In addition, the report found that 80% of Hispanics in California are younger than 50, compared to only 73 percent of whites.

The report notes that "as many in the non-Hispanic white population retire, they will be replaced by a more diverse workforce.”

Hispanics made up 12 percent of the electorate in 1998. In 2012, though, they represented 20% of the electorate...

I think we’re seeing the left’s immigration plans come to fruition decades after the fact. They are literally remaking America before our eyes. Now I’m not one who thinks everything was perfect in the 50s. Racism is wrong, and I’m glad most whites are no longer racist (minorities, on the other hand, seem to get a pass on their racist dislike of whites. It’s OK when they’re tribalistic.) However, there were many good things about the 50s, too. Who can reasonably argue that WASP culture didn’t bring great prosperity for great numbers of people, including minorities? Who can argue that minorities don’t have more freedom and material wealth here than just about anywhere else. Nevertheless, we gotta create this Tower of Babel in the interest of social justice, whatever that is.

Indeed. And I am one of them. Unfortunately, as much as hispanics would be a good fit for conservatism, theoretically, they are all too prone to the same victim-class siren song as other minorities who should know better (asians, etc.). I tried like hell to get a (Mexican-American) friend of mine to vote Romney last election, but I know she voted Obama, simply because Romney was a "creepy" rich white guy.

Bah. Given the changes that the racial demographics have wrought upon the American experiment, was apprehension by white Americans regarding the influx of brown and black people unfounded? I'd say no. Are any other countries in the world, which are not white, worried about their racial diversity and level of racial tolerance? Again, I'd say no. One must then conclude that the entire concept of "racism" as being the paramount of evil in the world was more of an effort to subdue the countries of the West than an effort to create true equality, or, more specifically, the concept or "racism" was more a propaganda effort to subdue the countries of white people than an effort to create true equality. If equality were the goal, then all majority non-white countries would be equally harangued to include white people as white majority countries are to include non-white people. But they are not.

Racism, true racism, is wrong. Judging people based solely on their skin color is evil. While you make a good point about other countries, you cannot reasonably excuse what was done to minorities in the USA. The fact that other countries are held to different standards is irrelevant to what’s right or wrong in America.

Slavery is evil no matter where it’s practiced. So are laws that penalize or treat people poorly based solely on race or gender. We can’t fix the world, but we have an obligation to try to fix ourselves and our communities. Unfortunately, we surrendered private property rights, freedom of association, and religious freedom in an effort to stamp out racism. We foolishly permitted even more racism in order to fix the injustices of the past. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Agreed. However, you are confusing two issues, in exactly the way that the anti-American left wants you to - you are assuming that culture = race and race = culture. Slavery was wrong, but not because slavery in the USA consisted of white people enslaving black people, but because slavery is wrong REGARDLESS OF THE RACE OF THE SLAVES. Sure, American slaves were black, but if American slaves had been white also (as indentured servants were, essentially) then we wouldn't be arguing about racism, would we? We'd be arguing about slavery as an institution.

Undoubtedly, most white people in the slave days thought that black people were inferior, but in those days, all people thought people of other races were inferior. It was the way of the world. The Chinese thought round eyes were inferior. The Japanese thought Europeans were barbarians. Blacks would have killed or enslaved whites if they could. Heck, even the British thought the French were inferior, and they were essentially the same race! Only in the 20th century, when it suited the anti-Americans and the anti-westerners, did "racism" become such an unthinkable sin, as a way to instill antipathy toward their own culture in impressionable western youngsters.

The point is that judgments in this day and age are not about race - they are about culture, even while the Left claims they are about race. So, if we examine the nature of certain cultures, such as the homicidal culture of Muslims, or the criminal culture of American blacks, or the narco-terrorist, socialist culture of Mexicans (and obviously these simplifications don't encompass the whole of these cultures), we find things to be alarmed about, but the Left stops that sort of rational thinking short by crying "racism" so that we are afraid to address these realities openly.

In essence, the fear of a black man is not because of his black skin, but because he is part of a culture that glorifies violent, criminal behavior, yet the evil Left would have you believe that it is because of skin color.

Excellent post. I understand your point. My point was simply that America once had separate treatment under the law based on race (we still do, it’s called affirmative action). That’s wrong. At the same time, you’re right.

Let’s consider immigration. It’s not racist of me to not want to import a bunch of poorly educated people who are dependent on government. It’s also not racist of me to oppose illegal immigration because I cherish the rule of law. However, the left would call me a racist, because illegal immigrants are predominately people of color.

While you are probably right about that in terms of the goal, I can tell you that there truly was racism in this country in the 1950s. There was discrimination and lack of opportunity for blacks then, and it was morally wrong. Many otherwise decent white people accepted this as the status quo.

Of course, today, many in the black community are worse off because of the way the left has encouraged the lowlife segment to expand dramatically.

After the passage of anti-discrimination laws, blacks were coming along, entering job markets and schools formerly closed to them, and being accepted by whites. Great social progress was under way.

The left saw this progress as a problem, as they were then losing an important potential victim group. Thus, the left set about stirring up racial division, and, as you can see, the progressives have been wildly successful.

Unfortunately, I see their success turning up here on this site. Increasingly, there are posts regarding some disgusting ghetto behavior, and I wince when I see comments that lump all black people together with the lowlife contingent.

I agree with that. I've always thought that it would be difficult to be black in today's USA, not because your average white person is prejudiced, but because so many blacks and white liberals keep trying to push blacks away from success and into failure. Any black American who just wants to get his education and have a successful career and family is criticized as an "Uncle Tom" or a "house nigger", but being a ghetto thug or a welfare ho is "keepin' it real". Imagine trying to raise a black son in this broken culture, where everything spewing out of the TV and the radio is trying to push your son into gangsterism.
