Everything is a damn crisis. Does anybody remember when Alcoa, TN was 24 degrees below zero? Probably, if you lived there. Ronald Reagan was the President and it wasn’t a damn crisis.
You are witnessing an America without leadership and everything is terrible. Welcome to Obamanation.
Below?
South hot-rod.
You seem to have a vested interest in defending Shepard Smith.
He accused the state of Mississippi of not reporting actual cases of influenza. Do you have a reason for this action?
Apparently healthy does not always mean that they are healthy. I wonder if when they do an autopsy they find some problem that they knew nothing about. A number of apparently healthy people drop dead from heart attacks all the time.
My husband and I both got flu shots in October. We got sick before Christmas, and it lingers even now. Had another chest x-ray today. Nasty.
The “flu” that's going around now is probably many different strains. People seem to have differing symptoms ranging from annoying to life threatening.
My philosophy is that each time I get something that doesn't kill me I'll probably be immune from getting it again.
California was already caught under-reporting unemployment numbers in advance of the November election, in order to make Obama look better.
Nobody good liberal would want to accuse California of being a serial under-reporter.

Why would you say that?
You mean like this?

We’ve had lots of friends with the flu...so far we haven’t gotten it (and I didn’t take a flu vaccine because I have MS and for some reason the MS is exacerbated everytime I take a vaccine.)
Sooo, (after that little detour), all our friends who have gotten the flu (confirmed by dr.’s offices swab) have had the flu vaccine. Their symptoms are high fever, body aches, fatigue, and lots of respiratory gunk that hangs on for weeks. None of us could figure this out until my friend talked to a nurse at the hospital recently.
There are evidently three “illnesses” going around now. The flu that was expected, thus the flu vaccine minimizes or prevents that one (I’d imagine this one is hitting those that are not vaccinated.) A flu that was not included in the vaccine (probably the one my friends have gotten), and a vomiting bug, which is a norovirus but not the flu.
That helps explain why so many of our friends who’ve had the vaccine are coming down with the flu. Up until I heard that explanation, it was a mystery to us because the talking heads kept saying that this vaccine covered the flu that was going around.
All heresay, but best explanation I heard.
To a person, they all admonish me because I haven't had the vaccine. I tell them, "you had the shot and had or have the flu; I've had neither the flu nor the vaccine! Tell me where I'm wrong!"
An old lady lives down the street from me and she wnet for a flu shot from her Doctor.’ He told her not to get the shot because they all had taken it and they all got the flu.
Now I don’t know the truth to this, but that’s what she told me.
So healthy is a matter of semantics. You think you're healthy but the autopsy says you're not. So what is a healthy adult? I know healthy adults who have died from the flu without the autopsy saying otherwise.

I went to the doctor one time between the ages of 5 and 19. ONE TIME. I had strep. The only reason I went at 5 was to have vaccines. I had the flu twice in that time frame. Why would I go to the doctor for that? My parents kept me home and in bed. Well, when I was in high school and had the flu, I had a term paper due. I walked to school to turn it in, and then I walked home. I was sooooo sick. But I had to turn it in on time or receive a 0.
I grew up in Mississippi. My parents hated to go to the doctor, and so did I. My daddy was a pharmacist. It was rather convenient.
Is there some necessity that all flu cases be reported to the federal government? Is there some reason that individuals must go to a government ordained physician to find out if they are ill or not?
Okay, some clarity here. First of all, when a flu vaccine is developed, it usually targets 3 different types of flu that are currently circulating, one of which they guess will emerge as the dominant flu. However, the type of flu that is dominant in the US right now is *not* one of the three. Think of it as a cousin to the flu they estimated.
However, being close does count somewhat in flu. If you have been vaccinated, it means you can still *catch* the flu, but your symptoms won’t be as bad.
2012-2013 flu vaccine trio is:
A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)-like virus
A/Victoria/361/2011 (H3N2)-like virus
B/Wisconsin/1/2010-like virus.
However, the epidemic virus is variations of what is called H3N2v, which is sort of like the Victoria strain above.
And I mean variations, not a single variant, because flu constantly mutates hither and yon.
So what about reporting the flu? Well, even if someone is showing all the signs of flu, it is not a confirmed flu until tests are made that show it is indeed that virus. And these tests are expensive.
Unless somebody is dangerously sick and hospitalized, most states think it is unnecessary to get confirmation of the flu. They are too busy caring for flu victims, and other sick people, to fret much about reporting confirmed cases of flu.
