Sort of explains the last couple elections...
Good post. What’s represented in the pictures above, and a dating culture like that of the movie Logan’s Run, would be enough to sink this culture even without all the helping hands from the current White House resident and those that put him there.
Once of those morons came within inches of rear ending me the other day. She somehow woke up long enough to lock up her brakes, but didn’t even look up from the text message she was composing.
Talking? Talking is so last century. They just sit in pods clicking and swiping away. It is eerie; the only sounds are the sounds of their smart phones.
You're right, shows how really out of touch I am.
My wife and I noticed this phenomenon when we went to a number of concerts of big-name entertainers in the last few years. As the entertainers were performing, we could see countless people in the audience looking at their cell phones and pressing the buttons. Some were obviously taking pictures of the performer, but even during breaks many people were preoccupied with their little gadgets. It’s a brave new world.
That's about my rate. I'm 63, and weeks go by where I don't use my cell phone. It's a handy gadget....when not overused.
At 66 you and your wife have probably said it all already! (My wife and I included.) ;-)
Einstien was an idiot also.
Einstien believed that socialism works. that’s the most idiotic thing to believe ever.
Also Einstien didn’t believe in a lot of quantum theory and so Einstein was wrong there too.
If you’ve got to contact or respond but can’t speak, such as in a meeting or something, I understand texting. But actually preferring to spend your time squinting and pecking away at a tiny tiny keyboard or even worse picking your way through the alpha characters on a numeric keypad? It’s tedious. Must be Facebook exhibitionism of every minute movement, another thing I don’t get.
He wasn’t an idiot, just overly focused, he just didn’t know he was speaking from experience with that statement without knowing it.
I got to the point that I understand texting, as there a lot of people I rather text a short note to, then talk to them on the phone. Saves time, and idiot interaction.
Yes I’m 55
I’m with you - I miss the days when the phone was securely attached to the wall. My wife uses hers a lot more than me. I only carry mine so she can contact me if necessary - when we’re together, mine stays at home on the counter. I have some months where I show under 15 minutes use on mine. You got me beat by 6 years, but the generational effects are pretty much the same.
We’ve had a rash of young drivers crossing the center line and head-on collisions. Running off the road, etc.
Told my wife last night I’ll bet cell phones/texting accounts for most of them.
Get called ‘old hat’ or ‘old salt’ because I do NOT engage in all this silly crap with i-this and i-that. Have one cell phone and when I need, yes need, to talk with someone I do so and prefer to talk to people rather than text.
I am 26. I use my cell phone a lot. I use it for twitter, txt messaging, and calling. I use twitter to get news, and talk with fellow conservatives. I use text, mostly to talk to my wife throughout the day, while we both are at work. I probably use it to call people, the least. I don’t have a land-line. My wife probably calls people the most. Mostly her mom and sister to talk about their days. I find the cell phone very useful and helpful.
With everything that is useful and helpful, sometimes, I find myself having to make a conscious effort to let it be for a bit. Especially when I am at home with my wife.
WOW
I’m in my 40s, and I don’t understand the fascination either. But then I’ve never enjoyed gabbing on the phone much.
These idiots are oblivious....in public, they block you because they have no idea there are actually other people around them. I love being behind one of them and trying to get by. I say “excuse me” in a normal voice, but of course they don’t hear. My next “EXCUSE ME!!!” makes them jump out of their skin.
My personal experience? About 98% percent of the time someone is driving slow in the passing lane and blocking others, when I finally am able to get past, it’s someone yapping on a phone.

Einstein believe electrons have definite orbits but Heisenberg didn’t hence his uncertainty principle . who was right? Hiesenberg was. Einstein worked his whole life to disprove the uncertainty principle but couldn’t overcome it.

Also about Einstein’s belief in socialism. He was a socialist and Hayek was not . Hayek right again! Einstein 0-2 . loser socialist .wonder why the media idolizez? hmm maybe socialism?
Hayek, who wrote the book Road To Serfdom, the true genius during that time proved that socialism can never work:
Hayeks (1945) elaboration of the difficulty of aggregating diffuse private knowledge is the best-known articulation of the knowledge problem, and is an example of the difficulty of coordinating individual plans and choices in the ubiquitous and unavoidable presence of dispersed, private, subjective knowledge; prices communicate some of this private knowledge and thus serve as knowledge surrogates.

Yeah, but I always sat there with a low-tech newspaper and never looked up (still do).
A buddy of mine said the other day that he heard I made a pot of soup. I asked him how the heck did he know that. He said my wife posted it to Facebook. I just shook my head and did a facepalm.
I don't get it either. Not even a little bit.
Some conversations you don't want to hear either.
I was behind one lady, waiting to check out at Office Depot, she said "you know" a least hundred times in 5 minutes, LOL.
I mean every sentence ended with "you know", talking away loud as heck.
I swear I think they didn’t get enough attention as children. Now they get to perform for the public. (eyeroll)
I thought that article linked at Fox yesterday re. how we’ve raised a generation of delusional narcissists was spot-on...
It’s getting wierd with the facebook that’s for sure
I only used it to link my blog’s right wing diatribes and get in touch with old friends on occasion, sure don’t get the idea of living out your life on there either
So did I.
Cool. Funny. Luddite. But Einstein never said it...
