It's not a question of the child being more important than an adult. The point is that a child is vastly more vulnerable than an adult. Such acts cannot be "unseen" and cannot be put into perspective by a child too young to understand or have formed a stable self-image. It warps the personality of the victim for life, causing great suffering to the victim and her or his family members, including any future spouse, children, or in some cases, future victims of the abused person, since some are compelled to repeat the behavior. Some others fall into a pattern of seeking abuse or engaging in promiscuity or prostitution, in the absence of a supportive family and sources of therapy. In some cases, the cuckolded parent will either disbelieve the child or blame the child.
Society would be much better served by executing pedophiles and also pornographers dealing in pedophilia. This behavior needs to be labeled as completely out of bounds.
