Why didn’t he just call 911?
Liberals are not good shots!
Of course he is more important than we are. All lib anti-gunners are the same.
Sorry, all libs are the same. The LAWS DON’T APPLY TO THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPERIOR HUMAN BEINGS.
Ask Mayor Bloomberg. He is surrounded by and travels with a privatearmy but we can’t have guns.
Guns for me but not for thee! I think it is obvious that he believes his life is more valuable than ours, that is why it is ok for him to have a gun.

“It has prompted some to ask if the Senator believes his life and personal safety is more valuable than yours or mine.”
I think that is part of the definition of “politician”. “Those who know better tha us” can’t be expected to be bound by the same laws with which they plague us.
“... the actions that he took to protect his family, his own response to a dangerous life threatening situation, are actions that he feels ordinary citizens should not have if they were faced with an identical situation.”
What makes ME less of an American citizen than he is and what makes him think he is not just as ‘ordinary’ as I am?
This is the arrogance of perceived power. PERCEIVED power that he only has by the will of those OTHER ‘ordinary’ people who voted for him. And THAT is what they had better ALL remember and think about. Often.
Note that this event was in early 2011. Wonder what the follow up was? Doubtful he changed his position.

What, did you think gun control was supposed to apply to the political class?
For years the biggest gun grabber in CA was Don Perata (D-Oakland), who admitted he had an AR-15 and a concealed carry permit.
The Perp should sue, the house was supposed to be a Gun Free Zone and safe.
These damn hypocrites. If they were capable of any shame, they would blush. I’m not counting on this old fart to protect me.
The story is mostly true except the senator was not a virulent antigun zealot. He was not a strong advocate of gun rights either, but the guy was hardly portrayed accurately.
Soles’ decision not to run for re-election again may have been influenced by an August 2009 incident in which Soles shot 22-year-old Kyle Blackburn in the leg, claiming that he had fired in self-defense after Blackburn and another young man trespassed on his property and attempted to kick in his door. In February 2010, Soles pled guilty to a misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon charge:
The 75-year-old claim[ed] he shot Blackburn in self defense after Blackburn and 23-year-old Billie Wright kicked at his door. Soles faced charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Blackburn has since recovered from the shooting.
During the trial, the state used a 40-minute surveillance tape taken at Soles’ home during the time of the shooting as evidence. The state said Blackburn, Wright, and a woman spent more than an hour trespassing on the senator’s property, drinking alcohol before kicking the door.
Soles’ attorney, Joe Chesire, said the state gave a fair account of what happened the night of the shooting, and that the senator wanted to take responsibility for his actions. He will pay more than $1,000 in court costs.
Old article. Copped a plea bargain.
Shooting by Soles ends in plea, fine
