Sales of firearms have been increasing nationwide, and Idaho is no exception.
This morning's Coeur d'Alene Press reports that concealed carry classes have been booked solid in the north Idaho community, and one gun shop has seen a 30 percent jump in sales in the past several days.
"I think the No. 1 reason (sales are up) is people are afraid they’re going to lose their ability to purchase firearms,” Ed Santos, owner of Center Target Sports in Post Falls, told the Press. "Look at cities that have gun control, like Chicago. Gun control doesn't work."
Meanwhile, Coeur d'Alene Republican Rep. Luke Malek told the Press that he wouldn't be a fan of of Idaho gun restrictions.
"I just don't believe that the government is resonsible for controlling weapons," Malek told the Press. "Taking guns away will provide safety for tyranny, not for individuals."
Still another lawmaker, Post Falls Republican Rep. Frank Henderson said "gun control is not the answer."
"Control of mental health and those who need assistance is a solution," said Henderson.

Interesting that the Boise Weakly (spelling intentional) is putting this out there. The Weakly is a overt lefty rag that is distributed freely around the area.
I saw on the news last night the Idaho Dept. of Corrections is proposing a new 600 bed mental health facility.
Interesting. I think that if a leftist rag does an article for limiting government’s involvement; it’s probably one of those “Br’er Rabbit don’t throw me in the briar patch” articles written to make people realize how very, very much they DO need government control over EVERYTHING.

It really is that simple.
Until individual Americans finally realize, as Reagan said, "Government is not the solution to our problem government IS the problem," then we are gullible to government solutions. Education is the key.

For the record, the Weakly as noted, is rag for the hippies that dwell in the north end of Boise. For the rest of the folks it isn’t fit for wrapping catfish.
The only ‘blue’ areas in Idaho are Boise (Ada county) and the Indian reservations (example: Latah county). For the most part, we have sensible conservative politicians. And up in my neck of the woods, local LE that respects the Constitution and its CCW citizens.
You also have them damn rich hippies that own and/or hang out at the ski resorts around Sun Valley, Blaine County, I believe. Can anyone say John Kerry and his neighbors?
Oh, them. They won’t last. When the game commences, they’ll be smart not to show up around here.
