Buchanan: "There Would Be A Revolution" If Government Confiscated Weapons

PAT BUCHANAN: There are three million ArmaLite rifles -- those Bushmaster types -- out there right now, and people are buying them like hotcakes. Every gun show, the sales are up enormously. Forty-one percent, they were up in December -- for last December -- which was a record year. John, what is common though, Eleanor [Clift] is correct, the push is going to come on three things: grandfather in the assault weapons that are here now; to try to outlaw assault weapons, outlaw magazines that carry more than 11 or 12 bullets; and also background checks at gun shows.

No, there wouldn’t be, because they’ve been planning this for decades.

Yes if this government wants CWII then going directly after guns is the way to do it.
The GOP in the House had better wake up.
The fact that people are arming up in such record numbers right now is a vote of no confidence in the GOP and a clear indication of outright fear and distrust of Democrats.

I can hear 'em talking.. "Let's create a legislative tsunami to overwhelm the public with new gun control laws. Fast and furious! What a terrific opportunity.. wow! twenty dead kids! We couldn't ask for a better crisis! Get busy! The next time may be someone driving a car or truck running over 20-30 kids in the school yard. Who cares about that? We can't use it. That will make people forget the dead kids we need. Hurry up!"

The confiscations will likely be incremental, not like we saw in Australia. Registration will be an early step. Di-Fi’s bill asks for the moon, which can’t be passed, but some elements might just get thru.

We need a very loud national uproar for the republican legislators to hear.

Remind me, how many bullets did Timothy McVeigh use? Andrew Kehoe? The 9/11 ragheads?

What’s really scary is when some psychopath/terrorist gets a hold of some bio-weapon.

More discussion at this link:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2975317/posts

And what I posted there:

I just did a quick number check.

There are roughly 2.6 million military personnel in America.
There are roughly 800,000 police.
There are roughly 52 million households with guns.

Even of half refused to take up arms, it’d be no contest.

At the hint of further restrictions, and more blatant abuse of “shall not be infringed” the country and its gun owning citizens had better make themselves heard or they will belong to the herd of sheep waiting for the next “rule of law” that just might say something a little more unpleasant, on the order of Your continuing use of the opiate of religion requires your attendence at reeducation class commencing immediately in the conference room of Greybar Hotel.

On your figures for military and LE you can take out about 3/4 of those numbers. A lot will be pencil pushers who don’t know squat about guns.

No, there wouldn’t be, because they’ve been planning this for decades.

Question 1: If 99% of all firearm-owners obey a law to "turn them in", how many make up the remaining 1%? (You may round your aswer to the nearest million)

Question 2: What is the greatest number of active members the IRA had while keeping Northern Ireland in turmoil for decades? (Hint: it's a three-digit number)

And if the time ever came it wouldn't be anywhere near 99%, nationwide they would be extremely lucky to even get 50%. In fact, I'm guessing that in many of the really pro-gun areas of the rural south and west (where most of the guns are) they would be lucky to have even a 10% compliance rate. (Of course you will always have a percentage of mealy mouth Mr. Magoo's that will dutifully march to the ovens...)

And how many of the following:
SKS
AK
Remington 740 series
BAR
M1 Garand
M1 Carbine
M1A1
FN49
FAL
G91, CETME, etc.
G43, Hakim, Rashid, SVT-40, and other "collectables"

And then we can talk about the 7,000,000+ Remington 700s out there, which is a small fraction of the optically outfitted "deer rifles".

The largest number of rifles in the world reside in the hands of the American citizenry. Molon labe.

Good article, but it needs to be updated to reflect the use of drones, new surveillance technology and the presence of leftist informers and groups throughout so much of our society. The coming struggle will be incredibly messy and destructive for all concerned and hostile foreign eyes will be watching for an opportunity to move in and plunder/take over.

John Mohammad and Lee Malvo paralyzed the Washington DC area with one Bushmaster. Oddly enough, they only fired one shot at a time, yet the term “assault rifle” made the headlines. Any proposed ban would leave a huge number of hunting rifles, far more accurate and/or powerful than the .223 Bushmaster, in civilian hands. Even with a total ban on firearms, I'm certain the number of unregistered or untraceable guns held in private hands would be more than enough to arm an army of snipers.

As a side note, our media, especially MSM, has gone from reporting facts and offering reasonable comment to a one sided propaganda machine, largely controlled by the government and liberals. The lessons learned in advertising are now being turned on our general population, starting with our schools. One can only hope that the internet will continue to exist and that enough of the population will be home schooled or attend private schools to preserve the principles of a free society.

I’m with you - i think that’s their strategy. Put something out there that is over the top, way too much. Then “settle” for something much less. Yet our freedoms and liberties and rights are eroded little by little. We are frogs in water that is already very warm.

It takes soldiers and airman to man these. I don’t think our troops will go for that. Our men and women in uniform are well aware of what is going down.

The local on base store gun section has been packed since late last year. Prior to that the gun sellers were begging people to look at guns.

Buchanan: “There Would Be A Revolution” If Government Confiscated Weapons

Almost correct.
There would be open warfare, direct combat if the Government attempted to violate our Constitutional Rights and take our legal weapons.
What the Government always needs to keep in mind is that it would be asking police officers to go against their own family members, the friends their neighbors. Many would refuse. The next logical Government step would be to use the Military. Here again huge numbers would refuse for all the same reasons. More importantly, I believe that huge numbers of the military would at this point take a stand against the Government.

• “What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.”
— Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith, 1787. ME 6:373, Papers 12:356
• “Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American...[T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people.”
—Tenche Coxe, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.
The founders knew this could happen=research it even they said it was a God given right that when a goverment became tyrantical to take up arms and overthrow it. Lokks like that time it getting closer every day. God save our country—but for me I am like Patrick Henry-give me liberty or give me death!!

Years ago, I read that in the American Civil War, there were almost 10 front-line combat troops for every support person in the rear. In WWI, this ratio had changed-there were now about 3 support troops for every 10 front-line soldiers. In WWII, there were more than 3 support/10 front-line. By the time of Vietnam, there were nearly 5 rear area support personnel for every 10 soldiers. Today? a ratio of 3 support troops for every 1 front line soldier.

from a quick scan from the internet ... not my figures

I'd say your figures are correct for current times except it's more like three contractors for every front line trooper. In Iraq the contractors outnumbered the active duty force.

They cut the active duty force so much that it is the only way to do business these days. The good thing is that most of the contractors were active duty at some point.
