Hope they don’t put up roadblocks to stop those in California fom leaving-reverse of dust bowl days.

Just so they don’t treat Californians the way CA treated the Okies during the dust bowl.

Despite going off on some pretty wierd tangents... the guy does make some very good points about survival tactics if the country faces some sort of economic collapse. His ranting about evil corporations distracts from the valuable points he makes regarding his experiences abroad and his observations about the societies he lived in and how they view Americans.

I plan to leave the USA and move to the Texas Republic—I hope they’ll have me.

That’s what I’m thinking too. I live in a rural area that is largely social conservatives. Best type of place to hunker down and try to survive.

I don't have a problem leaving. Let me explain it this way. On one side of my family, I have a lieutenant who was shot in the leg while delivering dispatches to General Washington; on the other, immigrants fleeing a hostile environment. In both cases, the branch with the lieutenant and the branch with the immigrants believed in the guiding principles of the US Constitution. It was unique. It was wonderful.

But it is not currenty believed nor upheld by members of Congress or the Supreme Court. The games we play to pretend otherwise are quite sad. I knew my country was lost with the Kelo vs New London decision of the Supremes and worse, when you consider that 7/9 of the justices at the time of that decision were appointed by Republicans.

I can add to the list, as I am sure you can too. So, my quandary, if the Supreme Court refuses to uphold the Constituion, why bother staying?

So tell me...do you have a job or savings accounts based in the Philippines or do you rely on income sent monthly from the USA in order for you to live your “1000 dollar” a month lifestyle?

If things go south in the USA, they’ll slap currency export controls so that wealth doesn’t flee the USA. Folks living on Social Security, US based pensions, or annuities who are expats are going to be in for one hell of a surprise!

“After experiencing ravages of socialism for several decades, some woke up and turned back to capitalism. China for example now has one million new millionaires and middle class is 50 times bigger than during their communist abyss.”

The problem with that is that they’ve largely kept the authoritarian apparatus where individual freedoms are not present. China has only “abandoned communism” in name to more efficiently control its citizens. They’re not giving any freedom - just a whitewash to the nomenklatura and over the attempt at real freedom in 1989.

It makes more sense to stay here and hunker down.

Convert as much of your savings and cash to hard assets as you possibly can.
Gold, guns, ammo, and other barterables are best, IMO. (I recommend gold coins over bullion.)
Keep only enough cash and banked money as you need for, say, 6 months (YMMV).

Also, think about food and water. Get near a river, large creek, or even a stream. Get near large state and federal parklands. Store fishing gear for both fresh and salt water. Plant vegetable gardens and grow some fruit trees. Keep a nice, big dog. (Don’t forget to stock up on dog food.) Stock up on long-lasting canned goods. Lots of them. They are maybe the best bang for the buck. Walmart sells those big cand of Campbells Chunky soups for $1.50 / can. Each can is practically a decent meal in itself, and there is a lot of variety. I recommend getting cases and cases of it.

Mostly, keep your gold well-hidden, well-protected, and nowhere near a bank or “safe deposit box”.
The Democrat parasites both in and out of government will continue to try to take what you have, and banks are no barrier to the government robbing you, count on that.

If possible bury a large tank for gasoline storage. Stock oil, too.
A couple of large propane tanks can come in handy, especially for gas grills.
Store a bunch (20 -35?) of filled, smaller propane tanks (the kind they make for grills) too - - good barter material. (Always think about good barterables.)
A cast-iron wood stove with cooktop is a great idea, too. (I have a 2200btu ‘Darby’ model that is awesome.)

Don’t forget a storeroom fro the little stuff like toilet paper, soap, plenty of towels, matches, batteries, extra clothes/shoe/boots, and so forth.

In the end, it’s all about timing. Collapse appears to be inevitable, but whether it bites us in the behind next week or ten years from now is the big question. I like to think of my preperations as “rolling preparations” - - that is, I use the oldest of what I have stored but then replace it with new stuff.

You don’t have to go crazy all at once - - just a little crazy every week. Sock stuff away every week and one day you will turn around and notice that you have accumulated quite a nice supply of goods. You will definitely feel better about your situation.

Good luck everybody.

“But not until 2040 at the earliest, more likely after 2050.”

Since I’m 75, it’s all downhill until I die!

No way i’ll make it to 2040 or 50!!

That seems true. China has much more economic freedom now but not so much personal freedom. However starting from Mao’s China who was a basket case, they are on track to become world’s biggest economy in less than a decade from now is an outstanding and amazing achievement.

We are on a socialistic path economically while China is increasingly more capitalistic.

****** “The vast majority of folks in other countries dislike America and Americans.” ********

BS

I have been around the World 5 times, visited 40 plus different Countries even the people I met in Iran, Pakistan, China, Russia envied the fact that I was American and I was a Free Man. I had Freedom, they did not and they were envious.

No matter what the MSM or Politicians tell you... the yearning to be FREE, is Universal.

Freedom and the USA used to be synonymous ... now we have Barry and now we worry.

What a bunch of wimps we have become.

TT

I don’t want to think I wasted my youth on a bunch of complaining whiny chickenshit bitches... Barry will lose, I know we can take our Country back.
