Wonder if he’s read his own resolutions.
That's already been settled by past SCOTUS decisions. It's covered by emanations from the penumbra of the Commerce Clause, just like liberal legislation has been for at least my lifetime.
The Constitution has been a joke to Democrats for many years, and nobody in Washington has enough spine to do a thing about it. Oaths of office to the contrary are nothing but a bitter joke now.
I can’t begin to post what I want to say.
These “reparations” would thrill tens of millions of “needy” Americans; I would think Boehner could be coaxed on board for this. Maybe we could try to get the money from Germany, who never paid its World War I reparations, but I doubt Ms. Merkel would agree. Oh, well, just add it to the national debt. That always pleases the “American” people.
Repatriation of former slaves would be less expensive.

Sure, why not. But add an amendment subtracting all forms of welfare to blacks up until now, plus ban all forms of affirmative action from now on. From the moment reparations get paid, the whining stops forever, and the slate is clean.
I think that 49 years of affirmative action and other racial preference quotas, along with tax payer funded entitlement programs is way more than enough reparation. They have been given opportunity and financial support long enough for the ones that will rise up to do so, while the others continue to blame whitey for their own self made life choices.
Blacks are able to unite 95 percent+, but whites have never had unity, just intraracial disunity. So there is no one to speak up for them.

Ok, so the amusing thing here is that as a powerful Congressman, Conyers can actually order up the exact “study” he’s asking for from either the Congressional Research Service or the Government Accountability Office.
He wants a separate “commission” because it can be packed with reparations supporters and conveniently overlook the “reparations” that have already occurred in the form of Affirmative Action and a ~50 year “War on Poverty”.
CRS and GAO would be likely to weight (or at least heavily caveat) any such study along those lines ... which might actually show that we’ve already passed the breakeven point on providing reparations.
Good for you. I’m sure the Conyers office was ready to help you, right?

I’m so tired of this on going debate. I’m all for it if they’ll promise in writing, upon penalty of life in prison, to take the money and SHUT THE F33K UP ONCE AND FOR ALL about this.

Isn’t that what 0bama is doing NOW? One of the reasons the crime rate has fallen in typically black high-crime areas is because 0bama is feeding them food stamps, 0bamaphones, etc.. Based on the 2012 election, it appears that blacks support the high employment rate for blacks under 0bama just so long as they keep getting their free stuff! Not working pays better than working! When the well runs dry, LOOK OUT!!!!! Now, 0bama has put America in a position where NO ONE has the courage to make spending cuts for fear of agitating the takers and triggering civil unrest. Rather, the spending increases which agitates the makers who apparently are tolerating it.. So far...
Conyers should get reparations from whoever cracked him in the head with a 2x4 and made him talk like that.
My Grandmother(17 at the time) was in the French Resistance during WW2. She was caught and spent two years in a NAZI work-camp in force-able labor and ate NOTHING but a potato a day.
She married my American grandfather,settled in the states. When notified by the post-war German Government that she would receive compensation(reparations)for her time spent in the work-camp she REFUSED THE MONEY.
As a former slave she had more dignity(and grit) than EVERY slave descendent alive in the nation.
