Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines, Inc., (NYSE; DAL) received 22,000 applications for about 300 flight attendant jobs after posting the positions outside the company last week.
Reuters reports that Chief Executive Officer Richard Anderson told workers in a weekly recorded message that applications arrived at a rate of two per minute.
“We are experiencing a phenomenal response to the job posting,” Anderson said.
Applicants will be interviewed in January. New employees will begin flying in June in time for the company’s peak travel season...

my dad’s wife just retired from there as a senior flight attendant. 42 years. had a great last trip picking up some troops from germany.
didn’t start at delta though. began on republic, then northwest, then delta - mergers, etc.
THIS IS WHAT A GOOD ECONOMY LOOKS LIKE!!!
And watch, they’ll pick the 300 butchest looking of the whole crowd.
Hope they begin by screening out the faggies.
My wife & I were flying transatlantic. The Delta flight attendant was this guy cutting up, telling jokes entertainingly, a real card. We asked him how rough was it being away from his spouse on these long flights. He laughed & replied, “I’m not married!”
We pointed to the wedding band on his left hand & he said, “Oh, that? That’s my `fag deflector’! See, you got a lot of fags in the airline industry, & this is how I protect myself. My girlfriend, she approves as long as we get married soon.”

I’ve seen lots of the “other” kind. I’ve got 2 1/2 million miles on Delta.
Also seen lots and lots of flight attendants, mostly female, who belong in wheelchairs, not flying, esp. on overseas flights.

Delta USE to be a very fine airline.
I knew several Delta pilots from all the way back to the old C&S airline days.
One Delta pilot friend in Atlanta was captain of their their first 747 flight to Paris.
In my opinion, Delta went off the rails 10 to 20 years ago.
My last Delta flight was Paris to Atlanta, almost ten years ago.
The stew was coming from behind taking drink orders.
The guy behind me asked for a coke. She said that would be a dollar.
When she got to me, I mentioned that I had never heard of being charged for a drink, much less a soft drink, on an international flight.
She barked back at me “ WELL, we are just trying to stay in business”.
You get what you vote for, president of the stupid. Notice in everyone of his spew fests he manages toward the end to throw in “the middleclass families” tag as a relate all, feel good, I care, meaningful, this is what the want to hear, lie. This is a generated crisis, most want to work and he and his henchmen are preventing us from doing so by killing business. On January 1st the EPA will drive the major nail in the coffin.
