Jamie Foxx used his opening monologue on last night's edition of "Saturday Night Live" to assure us that "black is in."
Foxx, who recently told an awards show crowd that President Barack Obama is "our Lord and Savior," employed his "SNL" pulpit to riff on how cool it is to be black right now.
“Black is in,” the Oscar winner said, offering as proof that the NBA’s Nets moved to Brooklyn. “How black is that?” he asked.
He went on to talk about his upcoming role in Quentin Tarantino’s "Django Unchained."
“I play a slave. How black is that?” He asked. “I have to wear chains. How whack is that?"
But not to worry, he said...

And I got a movie coming out, “Django,” check it out. Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson. “Django Unchained” I play a slave. How black is that? And in the movie I had to wear chains. How whack is that? But don’t be worried about it because I get out the chains, I get free, I save my wife, and I kill all the white people in the movie. How great is that? And how black is that?
But I’m going to tell you right now, speaking of blackness, my President, President Obama is back up in the White House four more years. How black is that? And not only that, he’s so black, he was playing basketball during the Election Day. How black is that? But he was also late for his acceptance speech. Okay, all the white people, this is your turn - how black is that?
But he going to be extra black this next four years. He going to get everything black, and white people, don’t get nervous about that because he is mixed. Now the first four years was the white side of him, because I don’t know if you saw him on Ellen when he was dancing and everything. I don’t know what this is. That wasn’t President Obama, that was President Barry Gibb Obama. But the next four years he’s even changing his name from to President Barack Dikembe Mutombo Tupac Mandela Hussein Obama X. How black is that? And the next time you see him dancing on Ellen, he gonna be dancing like this.
I’m sure the all white crowd roared with laughter like good little guilty sheep!

After one of the first postings I watched the whole program.
He also makes fun of Obama two or three times with the “...how Black is that?” theme.
The show also makes fun of Jap Pop etc. etc.
Getting hung up on that one line while ignoring the context makes these hyperventilating posts look truly idiotic.

Whenever people start saying things like that, you can be sure whatever they're talking about is on its way out.
Murphy was playing a character who was a racist and it was played for a joke.
Foxx was being himself and speaking as himself. From what he’s said in the past I don’t doubt that he believes that it would be cool to kill all of the white people.

When ROOTS was first shown on TV, there was a minor riot in Hot Springs Arkansas by people looking for an excuse to be stirred up.
When I immigrated to this (once) great country of ours many Moons ago, I noticed rampant racism happening between blacks and non-blacks. I had always heard that white people were racists against the blacks and the other “minorities” like me.
Well, well, well.
The racism I noticed then and today is still the same. Reverse racism by blacks against non blacks. And now, with baraka being a lame duck present, they no longer even try to mask it. What a shame.
The previews I’ve seen make it look like a cross between a black exploitation film and a spaghetti western.

Foxx was only playing on the meme that blacks are usually the first ones killed in movies and usually play the buddy or the one that dies early in the film rather than the substantial characters.
He is making the point that it is neat / rare for him to be playing a black guy (that is a hero protagonist) in a movie where the white guys are the bad guys.
Usually it is the white guy as the hero shooting brown people that plays well at the box office (according to him).
Agreed. It is comedy. Nobody said it was good comedy.
