The Pillbillies are getting desperate living in the Obamanation!
December 3rd 2012 | Mad Dawgg (Me)

The Police were just at my door. They wanted to know if my security cameras were on. Some asshats just robbed the coin shop located about 10 yards from my front door.

They walked in grabbed the old gentleman that owns the shop and beat him over the head and then robbed him in broad daylight. They got a lot of gold and silver coins and other collectable coins as well.

For folks in a lot of cities this stuff happens all of the time. In our small town it is rare. Or should I say, it was rare.

Then Oxycotin started showing up around here some years back. Doctors started prescribing it for back aches and other pain issues. Then of course people started abusing it, dopers who used lesser pain meds like Vicodin and such.

As the years passed it got worse. A couple years back I was in a local bar to hear a friends band. I was just there early during sound check. (I can't hack crowds and really loud music in small places anymore) My alarm went off on my phone reminding me it was time for one of my pills the doc prescribed. (BP meds) I went to the bar and ordered a club soda and set the pill bottle down on the counter. And before the barman could get me my order three young girls each asked me what I had and what I wanted for it.

I was confused I didn't know what they were talking about. The bartender explained as he pointed to my pills, "They think you have Ox or Percs. Those girls will do anything to get a few." I was taken aback. I asked him why the owner of the place would put up with it. He told me if he banned everyone who used or sold pills in the place the bar would be empty. And he said it was the same in every other bar in the county.

I figured he was just BSing me but as I asked around I found it was true. While I was asking around I heard terms like "Oxrun" or Oxy Express. I come to find out that people would load up a van or SUV and take fake prescriptions down to Florida and get sometimes 180 or more of Oxy and Percs each which they would outlay about 400-600 bucks for and the come back home and sell each pill for 30-100 buks a piece for the Oxy and 5 - 20 bucks each for the Percs.

Then of course the crime started to skyrocket. Even if you were hooked and could manage to get your fix straight from the pharmacist it sill cost an arm and a leg to keep up your habit so the money had to come from somewhere.

Now we have countless B&Es in homes owned by older people. First they are more likely to have drugs second they are an easy target because of their age.

The drugs are so addictive that normal folks who get it prescribed by a Doctor for a legitimate cause get hooked easily. Allegedly our former Chief of Police got hooked on them several of our city workers were busted trading city services like Water and Sewer fees for pills.

We have drugged out zombies walking the streets. I am not kidding they literally wander around zonked out of their mind. My wife went to the store awhile back with my daughter. They told me they were leaving the front door unlocked because they were coming right back with some groceries.

I heard the door open and told them I would be right there to help carry the stuff. When I went to the front there was no one there. As I walked back to the living room I saw movement in my Daughter's room. It was some zonked out pillbilly barely able to stagger about.

I grabbed a ballbat and chased the idiot out. We don't leave the door unlocked for any reason now. Its too dangerous.

And now we have this. A daylight robbery while businesses right across the street are open and the poor old guy who owns the place is beaten over the head.

People used to make fun of me because I kept telling them the Zombie Apocalypse was inevitable. Well no we know its not inevitable. Its here and it ain't going away.

Wow. I had no idea the fricking pills went that that high on the black market....around here my cop buddies say, they dopers substitute black tar heroin which tickles the same fancy for 1/10th the price. The Obama class of white trash trogs score the pills, then sell to yuppie addicts and use the cash to buy the heroin or juts trade outright for the stuff to pushers who work both ends.

I have to believe, given how addictive they are (hooked Rush Limbaugh) that the pharmaceutical companies (like big tobacco) are consciously involved in the “crisis” to build sales.

With the extended unemployment benes running out for many, that might be driving the increase in crime as they have to steal more now to fill their habits instead of cashing G checks.

I’d need to be pretty danged banged up to let the doctor prescribe that stuff to me again. I was using it after a surgery last year, when I had 7 weeks in a wheel chair. The high is fine, and combined with Ibuprofen it will kill a significant amount of pain, but the constipation can literally kill you after a few days on it. And there’s definitely a strong “down” when you stop taking it. A bad combo, which explains the addictiveness.

You hit the nail on the head.

Oxy was developed for terminal patients to deal with pain. (At least that is what I've been told by my doc) It supposedly is better than Morphine and easier to administer.

But now its prescribed for back pain and leg pain and anything else and the only reason I can think of is there must be a hefty monetary kickback from the med makers for Docs to prescribe such poison.

The primary reason the pain pills are so addictive is because they make not care. They really don’t do much of anything to block the pain, they just block your ability to find the pain annoying, anybody on them that stops to think about it for a bit realizes they’re still in agony, but they don’t mind. Anything that can make excruciating pain a non-issue makes a lot of other things not matter. They’re happy pills. And happy pills get people hooked fast.

I know a couple people who work at our local pharmacy. They tell me that is how they know who the heavy users are because they are always buying heavy duty Exlax.

My brother is addicted to pain pills. Has been for years. My mother has spent thousands of dollars of her own money to buy back heirloom jewelry of hers that he stole and pawned. She refuses to press charges. He continues to live at home. Sadly, I’ve had to divorce myself from my family as a result.

This stuff is tantamount to legalized cocaine and heroin, and in many ways its worse. It’s so easy to get on the street that most kids laugh when you mention pot. “Pot is for hippies,” the local kids have said. They want Oxys, Roxys, Percs and Vikes. This is all being ignored on a national level, but it’s become too big to ignore in most places. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say there were massive payoffs by “big pharma” to lawmakers to keep this out of the public eye.

You are likely to be no more than 2 degrees of separation from someone who is themselves an addict or knows someone who is. My wife’s late husband died from a deliberate Oxy overdose, and my brother will likely end up on a slab before he’s 40.

Around here the cops tell me the going rate is a buck per milligram. And Oxy is prescribed in doses ranging from 20 - 100 milligrams for each pill IIRC.

So, will some expert tell us all just what Oxy’s real name is? Isn’t Vicodin the same chemical?

Oxycodone is an analgesic medication synthesized from poppy-derived thebaine. It was developed in 1916 in Germany, as one of several new semi-synthetic opioids in an attempt to improve on the existing opioids: morphine, diacetylmorphine (heroin), and codeine.

Oxycodone oral medications are generally prescribed for the relief of moderate to severe pain. Currently it is formulated as single ingredient products or compounded products. Some common examples of compounding are oxycodone with acetaminophen/paracetamol or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen. The formulations are available as generics but are also made under various brand names. OxyContin is Purdue Pharma's brand for time-release oral oxycodone. The manufacturing rights to time-released generic oxycodone are under dispute.

I know of several people in our area who had good jobs working in building trades and got prescribed Oxy for back pain and such and now are hooked and unemployed. Two lost their homes and families because of these damned pills.

When I had oral surgery, they prescribed oxycodone; gall bladder surgery it was hydrocodone. Don’t like either one. Only took a half at a time and only used them a couple of times. I made a point of keeping them away from my other regular meds, just in case someone ever broke in. Had no idea how valuable they are. A few weeks back, had a horrible back ache and took a half of an oxy. Helped with the pain, but hate feeling so goofy. Then again, I do not like pot at all.

I had to create a "rule" for when I took it. One pain pill, two stool softeners, and wash them down with prune juice. The fact that I dislike the taste of prune juice helped me to get off the stuff after all those weeks in that lousy wheel chair.

I was prescribed Percocet a few years back for an issue I have with severe leg pain. (Percs are like 5% Oxy) It didn't take long for me to tell the doc no dice on the stuff. Yeah, I could deal with the pain but the "high" associated with it was too much and the "down" was miserable. I actually felt worse after taking the pill when it wore off then I did before I took the pill. I took them back to him and told him never again.

I can't imagine what Oxy would be like if Percs are 5% Oxy. The bad part was just after a few days of taking those Percs I was craving the damn things. Now I have a very low level pain pill that I take occasionally when the leg pain gets really bad. It doesn't have me craving it like Percocet did.

When I get pain issues I generally just go for the lots of ibuprofen route, because the high end stuff is scary. Just way too disconnected from the world. Vicodin is as high up that food chain as I’m willing to go, and even then only when the pain is severe and never more than 2 days in a row.

No. Unfortunately, I am waiting for a new HD for my security DVR. It glitched a few days back and I had to order a new one.
