Just before 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, FBI agents walked out of the Detroit Public Library's Main Branch on Woodward Avenue carrying boxes of evidence. Sources confirmed to Fox 2 the focus of the federal investigation centers around financial records and Tim Cromer, the library's chief administrative officer.
"We have not yet to determine any criminal intent. We'll see where the investigation goes," said LaMar Lemmons.
He and other members of the library's Board of Commission have raised red flags in the past about how Cromer was handling millions of dollars in no-bid contracts with companies like Cubemation and called for an audit.
"There were some concerns in terms of the accounting and the appearance of impropriety," Lemmons said.
Nobody answered the door at Cromer's West Bloomfield home, which we learned was also raided by agents...

If they raided it already, they have something big.. Now, it depends on whether the perp has connections high enough get it snuffed up..

Correct me if I’m wrong here....but I believe this is the first time in American history...that the FBI raided a public library. I’m wondering if they got stopped at the front door and asked to show their library card.

It really doesn’t matter in Detroit. Its kinda like the crips and bloods in city government. Plenty of corruption to go around.
Did you SEE the mansion that director lives in in West Bloomfield? They raided that, too.
I suspect the Governor and or Attorney General called the feds in after the defeat of the emergency manager law. I just read yesterday about the FBI taking over certain administrative duties from the Detroit police.
I bet they were shushed and told to be quiet. ;)
The Detroit Public Library has started a book drive. All of the ones on the shelf have been colored in already.
The emphasis of this story...is this $3.5 million dollar contract with Cubemation. It was never open-bidded, just awarded, end of the story. No one in the city can explain what they got in return for the $3.5 million.
Adding to the mess, there’s all this fancy upscale furniture and garbage cans (stainless steel no less) that appeared in the last year at the main library. This Tim guy got himself in charge of a number of departments at the library....but never showed any prior experience (like facilities or maintenance). It also appears that Tim is connected in some fashion to Cubemation, although it’s hard to say if he was a former employee or a consultant with them.

I don't know about the FBI raiding a library before, but I remember a State Attorney raid on the main library in Chicago as a major bookmaking joint in the 50's.. LOL
They got a clue when a bunch of hoodlums going into and out of the public library all day long, not a common sight.. :)
I have it on good authority that original copies of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn were found secreted behind a bookshelf. Also confiscated was an original Disney “Song of the South” film and several copies of Steven Foster’s scores.
Allah be with you! Yes I would bet it was due to the large Islamic population in the Detroit area and something bad happening from the computers at the Library. You can only bet that there is something dealing with terrorism happening there.
I hope they have it and can prove it.
