Setting the stage for a Revolutionary War of Ideas...If the GOP has the stomach for the fight

Two weeks ago a slight majority of Americans voted for more stuff from the government. There may have been other drivers, but that is the main one. Below is a quote whose origin is disputed, but it is particularly apropos:

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.
Although the United States is a republic, it is a democratic republic, and the author’s point applies in spades. The question is however, are we too far gone? Are we past the tipping point beyond which there is nothing but a descent into just another failed state that devolves into a third world dictatorship?

While I think we’re close, I’m not sure we’re quite there yet. There is hope, just not much.

Which brings us to the so called, Fiscal Cliff. The Fiscal Cliff is primarily the convergence of the expiration of the Bush tax cuts with sequestration – mandated cuts in government spending – both of which are supposed to occur in January. It is widely assumed that if the President and Congress do not come to some grand bargain, the economy will fall back into recession.

The key issue dividing the parties is the tax cuts. President wants to raise tax rates on the, because he absurdly suggests they are not paying their fair share. The GOP, as long as their spines hold, want keep the lower tax rates for everyone.

Many people suggest the president doesn’t want to avoid the Fiscal Cliff. The suggestion is that he wants to demonize Republicans for throwing the country back into recession. He does

That does not however mean that the GOP should capitulate in order to avoid it. On the contrary, this battle could and should begin the fight for, not only the White House in 2016, but more importantly, for the future of the nation.

Who’s going to lead the revolution? Boehner the orange crybaby? Limbaugh from his beachfront mansion? We have no leaders. They have all sold out and are part of the same corrupt system as the Statist. We have no future. This site will be shut down eventually so enjoy it while you can.

These articles all seem to follow the proviso the current $16 tillion in debt and the coming 20 Trillion by 2016 is not a factor. All that has to happen is the interest rates on this debt begin rising rapidly because no nation nor even the Fed, an amalgamation of banks, decide they don’t want any more. When that happens, things will snowball quickly into a catastrophy and the nation as we know it will not survive IMO.

Bobby Jindal was right about Mitt Romney’s comments, if the GOP seeks to survive as a party, it’s going to have to appeal to 100% of the people.

It may be necessary to say that, for the public record, but as a strategy it is wrong, wrong, wrong.

If the GOP is to prosper(not just survive) it will need to forge a reliable 60% coalition. And let the other 40% make do with lip service. That's how the 'rats do it, and it works.

Therefore, it will never happen. To much diversified infighting among us, and it will always be thus.

i.e: I won't VOTE for him/her because.............

I won't vote for him/her because...........

They would rather cut of their noses first. I wish it were not so, but it is the fact.

Now that more of the votes have been tallied, it looks like Romney got about as many votes as McCain did - not three million less.

It also looks like the President lost 5.5mm votes from 2008.

There is about a 4mm vote differential.

I believe that differential could be due simply to people hoping that a second Obama administration would give mortgage relief and student loan relief.

In other words, I don't believe that these Americans have a fundamental commitment to the welfare mentality - it's short-term fear in a nasty economy.

A lot of them beleived that Romney could turn it around by 2016, but they would be bankrupt by then.

“Limbaugh from his beachfront mansion? “

Dumb, just dumb. What the Hell does having a beachfront mansion have to do with fighting? Do you always assume rich people don’t care? Just how long have you been a liberal practicing class warfare?

At the risk of sounding treasonous I must state flatly that mass democracy has FAILED miserably. The sheeple in this country will simply to vote to elect politicians and political parties which promise them stuff. Our $16 trillion national debt——while monstrous and insane to us——means NOTHING to them so long as the Federal Reserve can continue to buy up our bonds and print Monoploy money.

Our Founding Fathers established a limited government constitutional republic. They established an Electoral College to elect the president. They wanted nothing to do with mob rule or mass democracy-—they were horrified by the disastrous results of the French Revolution.

We must accept the fact that mass democracy has failed us, mob rule has bankrupted us. Our Constitution, which was written with the primary purpose of limiting the power of the federal government (granting most powers to the states under the 10th Amendment) is NOT being followed in Washington.

We have a POTUS who is implementing the same ideas of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela: Get most of the people hooked on government entitlements and support programs so they will continue to support you, meanwhile nationalize or control the main industies (like healthcare) and in Venezuela the big oil companies. I don’t think Obama will seek a third time outright, but the Dems will rule indefinitely. But unless we the people take action to restore our limited government constitutional republic, it’s over. Many think it is already too late. Democracy may sound nice, but when people want stuff, it must come from others. Democracy is not compatible with limited government. We need a government which protects states rights, individual rights, taxpayers rights, gunowners rights, unborn rights, property rights, the right of private business and free enterprise. We don’t have such a government. Major and necessary changes are warranted. This isn’t my country anymore. I don’t recognize it all. I feel like Captain von Trapp after he returned from his honeymoon.

I really don’t care whether the “GOP is to prosper.”
We all (most, a lot us) got on board with Mittens because the plan was to eject Zero and then `hold Mitt’s feet to the fire’ over the next four years.
Look at the pattern since WWII: FDR/Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy/Johnson, Nixon/Ford, Carter, Reagan/Bush, Clinton, Dubya and now Zero.
Excluding FDR following the 22nd Amendment, after eight (sorry Jimmah, HW) years the public tires of the party in power and turns to the other.

Of course, this was also the way we were thinking on 11/05/2012, that the public is rational.
My point is, we don’t have to truckle to the GOP-e. No way. Been there, done that.

This must be fought in the public square. It is here that the Tea Party can make a difference—new fresh Ideas need to be expressed. Some fundamental thoughts need to be challenged.
So far most of the folks have not been directly hurt by things and they target “The Rich” or the “Big People” the pain is going universal and all will pay more Taxes—even the poor (think the poor don’t pay taxes—what about gas prices and oil?) When things start to break down—and they will—people will be open to answers—good simple answers.
Question “Hey Man, when did all the money go?”
Answer “It went to Corrupt Democrats and their Union buddies.”
I see two real problems looming and they scare the heck out of me. (I am hoping I’m wrong) 1. Inflation—massive and out of control. 2. War—maybe World War. (can we win with a feel good society?)

If it were not for the 17th Amendment, the GOP would have a 60 vote majority in the Senate.

the great promise of the TEA party is that it’s composition mirrors the general population. it is purported to have 1/3 of its self-selected members being ex or current democrats! it is thus already a ready made base for an embryonic, conservative third party. all we need is the vehicle or events to spark unification.

as for your last sentence, yes, these are two very high probability events. the timing is the only question. unpredictable.
