Ross Perot Sr., along with Hillwood Communities and Realty Capital, plans to move a historic house Wednesday at the venture's $1 billion residential community project in North Texas.

The 1882 Faught Farm House will be moved several feet and will position the home, that is expected to receive historical designation, as the project's community amenity center.

Perot will drive the truck moving the house at the groundbreaking ceremony at FM 407 and Prairie Mound Cemetery Road in Argyle. The project will be in Argyle and Northlake.

Earlier this year, Hillwood Communities and Realty Capital announced its partnership plans for the revival of the $1 billion project previously known as Belmont. The project has been renamed Harvest.

The groundbreaking will occur with pitchforks, event officials said.

This month, residential development Light Farms, a $1.2 billion project in Celina, had its groundbreaking ceremony. The ceremony included a barn raising using old growth wood from two, 19th century barns from upstate New York.

I doubt Mr Perot has a CDL or union card.

Texas is a right to work state.

Do you need a Commercial Driver License if you are not actually hired and not driving on a roadway?

you don’t need a license to drive on private property I think.

You need a permit to move a house on the road, because of power lines and stuff

Must be a very dry climate there, no gutters or downspouts, no positive slope away from the foundation.

I don’t know the annual rainfall but it’s not arid dry by any means.

It is located some 30 miles or so north of Fort Worth or maybe 5 miles south of Denton, Tx.

Other than for publicity why would the house need to be moved “several feet”?

With all that empty space, it’s weird that they would move the house a few feet, rather than design the new community around it.
