Wounded Warrior massive FAIL on Gun Talk Radio

Steven Nardizzi, the $319k/year Executive Director of Wounded Warrior Project, fumbled badly out of the gate in his efforts to diffuse the brouhaha over his group’s refusal to participate on Gun Talk Radio last weekend on Veteran’s Day.

The whole disaster was spurred when their communications director declined the invitation to promote WWP on Gun Talk Radio because of the gun-related content of the nationally syndicated radio show.

Late last week, WWP announced their executive director would appear on Gresham’s show to clarify the WWP position, in addition to offering some weaselese language that they respected everyone’s right to their rights to gun ownership – sorta like President Obama begins his self-description. “I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, but…”

Nardizzi, for being so well-paid, utterly fumbled.

He tried to spin his way out of the mess but only managed to spin himself in deeper, offering all sorts of weak excuses why WWP couldn’t partner with gun-related sponsors. He cited sponsorships with cyclists and how WWP had cut back on those sponsorships because of some sort of inferior return on investment.

notice we have "teacher of the month" awards, we have teacher championships on Jeopardy, and we have a constant theme of "aren't teachers grand" with the hollowood diatribe....

WWP has become the left's and the hollowoods "patriot" theme of the day....

now that we have found out that their administration costs....I read that they were somewhere closer to 50%......then we can choose other veteran charities that do a lot better...

I was getting the word out months ago. I knew that any organization that was advertising on the avenues they were was spending more on collecting money than spending it on vets.

A "handful" were denied for whatever reasons - not because a VA policy didn't exist.

How is that the VA's fault? My father, a (non-wounded) WWII vet, got his meds from VA at least 20 years ago. It's means tested and even I qualify (although I don't use them) at 7th level or whatever it's called. Again, this is an individual case, not a policy issue.

If it is not a problem (and the services provided were what they should be) then you would not have all these orginizations trying to help vets. When you have lawyers offering hep there is a problem. If you think every thing is ok so be it. Not everyone has had the same luck. None if the vets in my family has had a problem (including me) but that does not mean that the VA is good for all.

Why not, just because some can't get everything they want? When and where did the VA ever promise to take care of non-service connected injuries anyway?
Problem is too many think they're owed something for their service, when in fact, it was a privilege, not a burden, to serve America. With citizenship comes responsibility.
My own father-in-law, a WWII vet, was PO'd at the VA because they wouldn't give him free dentures. "They owe me." Sorry Pops, no they don't.

I personally know an Iraq vet who had to fight for over half a year to get medical treatment for lung damage from serving there. If you wish to think government is good go right ahead. I know government is crap for the most part. Have a nice day.

I have been watching a cable TV show where all of the employees are former military and many of their customers are current military. The gun shop looks like it is located just off base outside of Ft. Bragg.

When you run a general purpose charity, you never pass up the opportunity to hand out your card and tell people how to donate. As long as the audience is not participating in something illegal.

That is fund raising 101. I know people who spent a couple of hundred dollars per credit hour to learn that.

You owe me $100. Donate it to the charity of your choice.

You got that right!! Example; AGENT ORANGE!! There are a few cancers that are recognized as the result of exposure to this scourge.

Bladder Cancer is not one of them. However the incidence of this painful killer among our vets greatly exceeds the normal. As long as they don't recognize it, they don't have to give them benefits. If they don't have other insurance, they are on their own.

And yes, we do owe them. We should be honored to be in their presence. My sister's husband died os this disease. He never complained, at least not to me.
