A handful of prominent Republicans criticized Mitt Romney for his disparaging remarks about President Barack Obama’s “gifts” to core constituencies, saying that it was the wrong message to send voters as the party tries to rebuild itself after a bruising defeat. “I don’t think it’s helpful,” Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad told POLITICO at the Republican Governors Association conference on Thursday. “I guess my feeling is that we need to turn the page, and we need to focus on the future and not make excuses for the past.”

How are they going into pander mode by pointing out that such comments aren’t constructive?
Our next struggle to cauterize the wound of this William Weld/Massachusetts disaster of a candidate, is to figure out a way to shut him up, and drive him out of the GOP leadership, or else he will continue his war against the tea party and the right.
They may not be “constructive” comments. That doesn’t change the essential truth of it: Obama de-facto BOUGHT votes. . .

Romney may not have used the best wording, but his remarks about the progressive left and Obama creating an entitlement, and free “stuff,” society are exactly right and we are going to have to educate them as to the fratal nature of that course...not adopt it ourselves.
owebama did not really NEED to buy any votes - his voter fraud operation was like nothing ever seen before.

I don’t agree with your accessment. Romney surrounds himself with rich people, which is understandable since he is one of them, but he doesn’t get regular people need their social security check that is theirs due to having to pay into it all their lives. I have to have Medicare since there is no other insurance I can get since I’m over 65. He needs nothing so thinks no one else does, either.
His main reason for losing is because he is a liberal and his attitude turns people off.
Romney told the truth. I just wish he would have done that before the election.

The logic amazes me. You criticize Romney in paragraph two with a classic leftwing class warfare argument, with hands off my entitlements to boot. Then in the conclusion you say Romney is too liberal, after using Obama’s Alinskyite critique.

You are wasting your breath. It’s a simple concept; if you are white, you are the enemy. I mean this: I even ask my Filipino bud how non-whites look at the GOP...it’s about skin color and I trust this guy’s opinion.

OTOH - as our open-border demographic slide continues, the 2012 election may be remembered as that time when we last got sort-of close, back when FL, VA, and OH were considered Swing States and not Democrat locks.

Rubio said that as a party, “our mission should not be to deny government benefits to people who need them,” but the GOP should work to ensure “less people need government benefits.”
