Initial jobless claims rose to 439,000, their highest level since May 2011. And no, it isn't due to SuperStorm Sandy. Rather, it was increases in Ohio and Pennsylvania that led the surge.

Continuing jobless claims spiked as well, their highest point since March 2012.

Meanwhile, the Empire State Manufacturing Survey of General Businesss Conditions improved from -6.16 in October to -5.22 in November.

The Philadelphia Fed Business Outlook of General Conditions fell to -10.7 from an October reading of +5.7.

Meanwhile, The Dow Jones Industrials continue their post election slide.

The Reality of Economic Decline Surfaces After Obama's Reelection

The problem is that the majority of 0bama's core constituents had no 401Ks or savings, and didn't work anyway, so they're not affected.

Obama said he would hire 10,000 new math teachers. This certainly will help the numbers.

Sounds like a replay of FDR. Pump up federal spending and manipulate the statistics before the election and then watch it crash afterwards. Are the people that stupid .... they elected FDR 4 times and the Food Stamp President 2 times. Remember, we only came out of the depression because FDR died (and yes WWII interrupted the depression, but would have continued after if FDR hadn’t died).

The jobs report will not look real good in about a month. Wonder what will be blamed on those numbers?

No, WWII did not interrupt the depression. It worsened it. Just because economists cannot discriminate between useful and wasteful production, employment, and spending does not mean we have to blindfold ourselves and pretend as if all those planes, tanks, guns, bullets, and new federal employees weren’t going across oceans to blow themselves up.

“Rather, it was increases in Ohio and Pennsylvania that led the surge.”

There was an economic message for Pennsylvania and Ohio, with direct regard to where their states economies were headed, if anone wanted to deliver it to them. Romney didn’t.
