Proposed Concepts for the Constitution of the New Republic of Texas (Reconsidering Secession)
Texas: A Whole Other Country ^ | July 22, 2009 | Off Grid Blogger

The United States federal government has usurped its power under its Constitution. It has become oppressive and unresponsive to the people of America. Under both major political parties, it has lost control of its fiscal responsibilities which will irreparably harm us and our posterity. It is time that Texans free ourselves from such oppression and peacefully secede. But before doing so, we should have direction for a new Republic. This document is an outline for concepts to be incorporated in the new Constitution for the independent Republic of Texas.

I see some three really big problems with your map.

1. You DO NOT want Querbec
2. You do not want Ontario
3. They can have Nevada...all of it.

The UP of Michigan can become its own nation. Matter of fact, if any place was to split, that would be the place since nobody would know they were gone. Yet, I will give you a hint, The UP holds more mineral and natural wealth than nearly any place in North America. They just havent got the oil. The UP has international ports, and yes, they can be kept open year round on the Lake Michigan side. I would guess that if that were to happen, those in Northern Wisconsin would go with them.

Your map would be a site to see someday though. And I suspect it is a lot closer than many on here think.

A free and independent Texas would witness an economic boom seldom seen in history.

If Texas does this, I will bring my 3 engineering degrees and 25+ years experience there in a heartbeat. Hey, I'm a whiskey drinking Christian with guns. ;-)

Texas will become part of Mexico once more. There is only the ability to utter bombastic statements. There is no real capacity to resist the invasion.

It should be similar to the US Constitution.

There is nothing that prohibits secession.

You misunderstood. I have no problem with another fight. I simply alluded to the fact that according to Texas v. White (1869). Texas cannot legally leave the Union. That's what I meant by war having consequences. I think you are trying to be funny with the diplomacy idea. You can't argue with a liberal. They are not equipped for logical expression. In fact a real liberal is mentally ill.

I wasn't trying to be funny. Most of my historical reading comes from that era, and tempers got very hot at the slightest perceived insult, in 1860.

Not so much, today. CW1 was as much about honor(face) and money as it was about anything else.

Preserve face and honor and money and warfare can be avoided.

Warfare is, after all, just a form of diplomacy.

Diplomacy is agreement. They agree to let us go. They get certain things. They don't get hundreds of thousands dead (like last time).

Carrot and stick. Arguing is for fools.

Texas cannot legally leave the Union.

I don't know where you have been hiding, but lots of what has happened here in Texas (and other places) tonight hasn't been legal, and it's been going on for years, and will.

Some folks aren't going to give a rat's pointy little tail about legal. The rule of law loses it's teeth when the lawgiver breaks the law.

SIGH.

Once again....New York State is NOT subsidized by the federal government. We pay out more to the feds than we receive back.

New York pays for its social programs by taxing the living shit out of every New York resident or business.

New York sucks for many reasons and there are many valid reasons to hate New York State Government and even a lot of New Yorkers.

Oh yes...we crap up the country for everyone else, no doubt about it.

But we don’t take your money.

What we do do is send vile scumbags like Chuckie Shumer, Louse Slaughter, Hillary Clinton, etc. to Washington. We also have a whole bushel basket full of electoral votes that go straight to whatever Democrat puke happens to be running for President and they don’t cost the Rat party a red cent.

At least have the courtesy to hate us for the right reasons.

Only citizens are eligible to vote who either (1) own property in Texas, or (2) have a high school degree and have passed a semester of each of these topics: political science, American/Texas history, economics, and logic.

I especially love this part!

Keep in mind the military absentee ballots were not counted. How do you think this will make them feel about shooting at us? I think they’d join us...

All you say is true. Texas has not retained the right to secede.
