(IBD) Obama To Sign Anti-Second Amendment U.N. Small ArmsTreaty Gun Grab? (Correct Link)

Second Amendment: The United Nations is putting the finishing touches on an Arms Trade Treaty that transcends borders and may even trample our Constitutional right to bear arms. Every indication is that the president will sign it.

Like the New Start and Law of the Sea treaties before it, as well as the Kyoto Protocol and Agenda 21, the Arms Trade Treaty being finalized at the U.N. this month is one of those feel-good, can't-we-all-get-along pieces of parchment whose net effect is to accomplish little except to eat away at American sovereignty and freedom.

Just as the world's worst human rights violators sat on and often chaired the U.N. Human Rights Council, Iran, arms supplier extraordinaire to America's enemies, was elected on Saturday to a top position on the United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty being held in New York. It began July 2 and extends through July 27.

This came right after the same U.N. found Iran guilty of illegally transferring guns and bombs to the murderous Syrian regime of Bashar Assad, currently slaughtering thousands of its own citizens as an impotent U.N. joins the U.S. administration in standing around and watching.

The mindset of the one-worlders preaches that guns cause crime and war and if we only get rid of those otherwise inanimate objects the evil that lurks in the hearts and minds of men will suddenly dissipate. Then we can buy the world a soft drink and sing "Kumbaya."

We are assured by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who enthusiastically backs the treaty, that it only deals with international trade and trafficking and does not affect our Second Amendment rights. How the treaty would have dealt with Operation Fast and Furious, the administration program that walked guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels,

Libby Custer ended up with the table from Lee and Grant’s signatures at Appomattox Court House. Wonder who will get the table this time.

I thought treaties had to be ratified by 2/3 senate vote?

2/3 of “those present”.

A quorum is 51.

Could theoretically be ratified, on the sly, by 34 traitors.

Unlike our current fraudulent president, senators have to face reelection every 6 years. Doubtful they want to risk their jobs to sign off on this. Nonetheless, remain ever vigilant to the possibility. This might just touch off Civil War II.

A treaty CANNOT usurp the Constitution. That has already been decided upon by the SCOTUS several times.

The Congress would have to ratify it as well. Good luck with that one too.

This will not pass in the United States period.

Hussein signing a treaty is one thing. ENFORCING it is another. I don’t think I would like the job of “collecting” firearms from American gun owners, should it come to that (which I seriously doubt).

Except that "those present" doesn't indicate a quorum, you could have 0 present.
There's a paper which details that necessity to make treaties in secret.

One of many amendments to be changed count on it.

He who pokes a hornets nest with a stick shall certainly be stung.

The Democrats poked it in 1994 and lost Congress in a bad way. They obviously didn’t learn since then and need to be stung again. The level of stupid of the left is mind boggling.

I’m not surrendering my guns. It’s simply not happening without a serious fight. You might win but you’ll pay dearly for your efforts. Even if you kill me, I’ll haunt the traitors for years to come. Trust me, you don’t want to go there with me.

“The Congress would have to ratify it as well. Good luck with that one too.”

Once again, a treaty only needs 2/3 of those present to ratify it and a quorum of the Senate is 51 Senators, making for only 34 needing to vote for it to ratify it.

The Communists have 51 Senators willing to sit for the vote and they certainly have 34 Communists that would vote for it.
