Chris Christie: “I wouldn’t call what I did an embrace of Barack Obama”
Hot Air ^ | 11-7-2012 | AP

(snip) To repeat a point I made in the Matthews thread, if not for the photo op with Christie and the corrupt media’s breathless coverage of it, O would have been nearly invisible during Sandy. I thought he’d get no meaningful political benefit whatsoever from looking “presidential” for a day or two afterward, but to my amazement the exit poll suggests otherwise — and it may very well not have happened if not for Christie turning it into a story. I don’t know if he really was just too tired and stressed to consider the political implications or if he was working an angle designed to boost his Democratic cred before running again for governor in New Jersey, but I think Dan McLaughlin’s right about his national ambitions now. Christie was always going to have a tough time in the primaries due to some of his departures from conservative orthodoxy and, now, because he’s a northeastern blue-state governor and we’ve been there, done that, nominee-wise, it’s even tougher for him. When you pile this on top of it, though? I suppose if Romney can overcome RomneyCare and McCain can overcome campaign finance reform, among other things, Christie can overcome a storm-related misjudgment. But listen to the Ingraham clip below (via the Daily Caller) when you’re done with the first one. Sound like a nominee in the making?

This fat bastard is beyond RINO.

He openly stated he did not care about the election and did everything except lock lips & swap spit with the One in public to show his love for him. He is now complicit in the destruction of America and is just as guilty as the commies.

He’s making it worse.”

I couldn’t agree more with your statement.

At this point , the Gov. will not be able to change minds with his words. The image of him with Obama, and the words that he said are firmly etched into everyone’s memories. He will not be able to change that with his post-election protestations.

The jury is still out as to whether he purposely set out to hand Obama a lifeline in the election, or he was merely numb from dealing with the storm’s aftermath. But, his actions definitely had an impact, and they hurt Romney.

At this point, he would do well to close his mouth (for once).

Why doesn’t this idiot just close his mouth.

Sadly, his physician's been telling him that for years.

Christie is doing the politician two-steps:

First, he has tried to convince you that your eyes didn’t see what you saw. He’s just doing what the people elected him to do, and “not an embrace of Barackie”.

Flailing that, then Secondly, he’ll blame the right. Like I predicted yesterday, he’ll say “GOP Left Me”.

He’s dancing the two-step to a t.

Consider that if Romney had won the election, did well and was elected to a 2nd term and the Paul Ryan ran for President after that in 2020, Chris Christie would have no chance to run for President until 2028.

You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead,
And you’re miles and miles from your nice warm bed
You just remember what your old pal said,
Boy, you’ve got a friend in me
Yeah, you’ve got a friend in me

But it was. Literally and figuratively, a brace of Obama. At the absolutely most critical moment. Above and beyond the gushing that other governors have felt to proffer previously.

Grrrr. Sorry about that, and ‘a brace’ should have been ‘an embrace’.

Right. Christie acted hastily, thought it was a good opportunity for his state (but mostly for himself).

Only now, after the election, he's trying to walk back his ‘slobbering over Obama’.

Watch the video clip, he looked like the implication just dawned on him. I wonder why his inner circle did not warn him it was a bad move. Esp. he was the ONLY one embracing Obama for Sandy.
