(...)Rove knew better. He always knows better. He had no interest in taking the revelations of the book and using them in his ad campaigns. Instead, he ran a conventional campaign telling people what they already knew – what Obama had already done in his first four years.
In the meantime, he also went to war with conservative Republicans like Todd Akin, who, by the way, lost by a smaller margin than some of Rove’s favorites – like Connie Mack in Florida.
At the end of the day, Rove failed at every goal he had been charged with – winning the presidency and winning the Senate. He didn’t even come that close.
That’s why I think Karl Rove is the big loser.
In fact, I think he needs a new nickname. “The Architect” just doesn’t fit him.
I think he should be called “The Accountant.”
Rove has made a personal fortune by acting like a political genius on the backs of other people’s work. In 2012, the Peter Principle set in. He rose to the level of his incompetence.

Romney ran a nice guy campaign ignoring whole sections of the electorate...we need a conservative that can make conservative values sexy to the twitter millenials and latinos ...after they suffer economically for another four years they will come to their senses....Obama owns the economy lock, stock and barrel now and if past performance is any indication of future results he should screw it up loyally for a real conservative to rise up and fix it.

Any guy who advises his boss not respond to phoney charges which became a major issue is a POS.
The trick is to turn your state house into a bastion of Republican/Conservatives. Relief from FedGov oppression will start at the state level. We have to fall back to the state level and then start nulifying. Governors need to be important again.

I don’t know if it was Rove that killed Romney.
But if Rove had anything to do with the strategy to contest 23 D Senate seats while protecting only 10 R seats, with this result, he should never be allowed near a strategy meeting again.
I’ve been very very depressed over Romney’s loss, even though it’s my own stupid fault for believing that Romney was something he clearly was not.
In fact, I’ve been SO depressed that I haven’t even paid attention to the Senate catastrophe, which is much, MUCH worse, first because it’s for six years, second because it was so promising, and third because it shows, in a cross-sectional, national way how badly f***ed up the GOP strategy/recruitment/organization functions really are.

Yes... This one really doesn’t make sense. What I don’t understand is how all of Obama’s events drew tiny handfuls of yawners whereas Romney’s drew swarms of wildly enthusiastic citizens. It just doesn’t seem to make sense.
I agree with you 100%. And I am NOT one of those who participated in pulling apart polling data and discrediting it. I took the polls at face value and told everyone we should keep fighting like we are 10 behind.
Not that they were wrong to not believe the polls. My point is, I was not skeptical enough to say “don’t believe the polls” even though I know that they’ve been known to skew them in the past.
That said, I am skeptical about these results for the reasons I have stated, the ones you just stated and from what others have said as well.
We really cannot be sure it was not stolen.

Bingo! And who was first on his list to ignore? The Tea Party. He excluded the Tea Party from his convention. He did nothing to bring Sarah Palin in to support him. He did nothing to bring Ron Paul supporters, Bachmann, Gingrich, Santorum or Cain in or their supporters. They all outpolled Romney at some point in the campaign.
Gone. Missing. Ignored.
Then we have the number one problem of the establishment Republicans and elected Republicans ..... cowardice. Romney had no fear going after Gingrich and Santorum, but was afraid (cowardly) to attack Obama. He left all his best arguments on the floor and replaced those with vacuous comments of 12 million jobs and turning the country around. Well, a majority of voters, admittedly bamboozled by the media, thought the economy was improving. What was Plan B?
Zip, zero, nada. The GOP has to be gutted and rebuilt on constitutional conservativism, out to attack the special insterests, cronyism, lavish government.

I support candidates and causes, not consultants.
If I find myself in the same camp with Karl Rove next time around, fine. If not, fine. I’m not going to lose sleep over who hires Karl Rove next time around, or who chooses to take (or not) his advice. He is a hired gun. No point in turning him into a boogeyman.
If Rove ended up working for your preferred candidate four years from now, would you abandon ship?
